According to the model information sheet, the ETi has a 1.5l VTEC-E engine, which is more sophisticated then the old model to provide better driving and cost performance, its supposed to be tuned for economy (I'm guessing thats what the extra E stands for)

from a quick google search it seems that a lot of european countries got this model.. not sure if Australia got this model however.

    another search got me this

    83tq@3000rpm 92-95 Civic CX
    D15Z1 1.5 16VSOHC VTEC-E PGM-FI 1493 92hp@5500rpm

    108tq@5700rpm 88-91 Civic/CRX/Integra LS
    D16Y5 1.6 16VSOHC VTEC-E PGM-FI 1590 115hp@6200rpm

I'm guessing it would of had the first engine in it

    Hope that helps

    fuzzy

    Edit:

The VTEC and VTEC-E set the stage for the 3 stage VTEC that combined VTEC with lean burn technology, in the D15B that was used in the EK3.
