Your best bet, if the unit is not under warranty is to actually purchase a new Headunit. The labour and parts costs is not be worth it. The total charges of getting it fixed might cost you more than getting urself a new unit.

As J-MuN said it's probably time to bite the bullet. Not worth paying to have it repaired.

Mind you before then check all connections on the unit as well as the fuse to make sure there not causing any troubles.

Where in brissy are you man cause i can take a look at it if you want?

as someone posted previously, check your connections and fuses. If its not reading, it my be dirty. Try one of those cd player cleaner kits.

what deck is it by the way?

if its not reading discs, then its a 95% chance that the laser assenbly has died and gone to heaven, if its a $1000 deck and its a reputable brand you can most likely get a new laser for it but you will need to get an electronics repair shop to check it out and fit it (call the place you bought it from and find out who the repair agent is for the brand).
if its not under warranty then it will cost you a few hundred $, so you might have to weigh up the pro's and con's of fixing your deck or buying a new one.
