Crank pulley removal on B16A

Ok guys, I am in the process of changing my timing belt and am having a PITA of a time getting the crank pulley off. I've already tried with a strap wrench (which keeps slipping). Would I be correct in my thinking to maybe see if I can get a hex key to fit inside the crank pulley to hold it in place while I undo the bolt inside the pulley?

Dumb question I know, I know I'm overlooking something simple here.

Any suggestions welcome - I miss vtec/driving my car!

Thanks mate. Would never have thought of that - I would have just done my usual trick of spending more money on tools.

yeh nah that rope trick works great in stopping the pulley from turning

my only problem is getting the pulley bolt off.

let us know how u go....looks like i'll be needing air tools for my one

Well, I'm still trying to get the bolt off...

Broke a 3/4 drive sidchrome adapter on it yesterday.

Now I'm using 1/2 drive sockets but am going to try a longer bar - hope to be able to give that a go today.

If you have any luck let me know how you do it.

The rope works a treat though.

yeh i gave up using normal tools, so it's gonna have to be air tools for me, i broke a few tools too.

so when i bought some new ones i got the ones with lifetime warranty
