Del Sol - CAI Kits & VAFC

Is it worth getting these two installed? I spoke to Indy from IS Motorsport the other day & Ferrari (On here), who both checked out the car... asked them what they thought of the CAI kits and said that the engines are already very tuned as is...

Car already has the straight through SS Exhaust & Headers, so i was wondering if matching the exhaust to an aftermarket intake & then having it all retuned with an VAFC would be benefitial to some better power...

Anybody here give me some advice regarding their power gains for the b16a2? Im a 4AGZE boy and know **** all about honda engines...

a CAI will make the car breathe a bit better, but if you want to do it properly - get a heatshield made to stop the hot engine bay air, getting sucked into the intake.

I can says from what i've seen with my own eyes on a VtiR, a CAI, exhaust and a VAFC which was dyno tuned - gave my mate a good 10HP@wheels and you could feel it!

Which ever way you look at it, those are basic 'mods' on most cars, so sooner or later you're bound to do it anyway

a VAFC is a Vtec controller...
You can alter when you want Vtec to kick in

which is pretty much pointless with those mods

    it's also an air/fuel controller... basically, it's a Vtec-Air Fuel Controller

imo, they're a waste of money. There are FAR more capable options out there for less money. They're pretty guages... that's about it.

cai is a good investment to compliment ur exhaust. CAI doesnt need a heatshield because its already getting cold air. hence the name.

True - but CAIs are 98% of the located within the engine bay in place of the old airbox. Air temps reach 50-60 degrees inside the engine bay if not more - therefore its not really a CAI is it? providing a heat shield for a filter that is placed where the old airbox is - provides a boundry from that hot air.

So in the end if you're getting a CAI try getting one that does all the way under the bumper.

CAI is well worth it Do some research and invest in something decent the first time round

then scrap the VAFC and invest in an aftermarket ECU.

    thats my 2c

CAI = all the way into the bumper
short rams are what are usually in place of the old air box.

But ive been hearing about a transitional loss in low down power with CAI setup, Is this true, will I lose slight power?

Plus the longer the intake, the less direct the throttle feels, which is what i prefer (in other cars i know this is true - as for crx unsure about)

Is there any gain? Ive got the XForce Headers + Straight through xforce piping...

Im running a Password JDM carbon (whales penis). I noticed larger top end power but low-range power was reduced. It feels like an T88 on 5lbs boost on a 1.6L stock engine - LAGGY. From what Im told the CAI's increase the mid-high power band and not just the top end. Get an AEM intake (if you want to spend the money) as they would be the best possible intake. The V2 would possibly be the best bet. Or the Injen and Comptech models.
