Just an Idea.
Its well known that people advertise in there signatures. If this was banned then maybe some spamming would go down as people wouldn't be post whoring to ensure that everyone knows what they have/want. Traders of course would be except to advertise there buisness as they pay a fee for trading, and most traders arn't post slarts.
Although personally I have bought something that i was looking for, through seeing it in a signature so i can see the benifits of being able too. Perhaps a revision of the for sale section is due? Maybe sub-forums for different types of products.
ie...
FOR SALE
- Engines & Gearboxs (Half Cuts included)
- Performence Parts (I/H/E/Cams ect)
- Suspension and Handeling
- Wheels and Tyres
- Car Electronics (ECUs, Wiring, Piggybacks)
- Stereo (Audio & Visual)
- Interior
- Exterior
People could then sell something by placing there products under a certain forum. This would make it easier for people to find products (especially old threads) whithin the for sale section.
Thid would infact reduce spamming and bumping.
I dunno, what are others thought on this?

thats a very good idea....we have been very light on hte "signature advertising" due to too many levels to address.
But , i strongly agree that obvious " parts for sale PM ME " etc should be removed.
Ill link this thread with the mod lounge and the mod "team" will have a chat about it too.

i reckon it's quite an idea..
BUT, what if people have numerous different items for sale..
example.
1 gaurd, 1 head unit, a set of pads etc.
do you post in each one?
-
i think the second idea isnt goign to work at all - most people here post up different items for sale at the same time etc.
But , i do think eliminating signature advertising is a good step -

Great... yet another step in the WRONG direction.

quote the initial "steps" in the wrong direction....and tell us now why this is further in that direction too ?
With proper rules set of what is allowed and what isnt...i dont see why not

i dont see why this is a problem if people are members??
i havent seen people spamming because the have items for sale in their sig?
IMO its getting very strict here..
All items in one thread, not EOI, no sig advertising etc etc.. soon the marketplace will be removed at this rate. I do realise that its free and you guys do a great job and are just trying to keep the place clean and keep everything running smoothly. But its becoming stricter and stricter all the time even with little to no abuse IMO. (I mean that usually when things are abused, thats when u need to be strict and remove things like sig advertising.. some people can ruin it for everyone, but someone show me some examples of where someone is abusing this and i will shut my trap)
Whilst places like H-T are too lenient, OH is becoming extremely strict. I think its very hard for people to become members now also. I try to contribute wherever i can here, and have had 1 rep point. Imagine how hard it must be for newcomers? This doesnt worry me though as im a member.. just thinking of how hard it has become on the noobs.
Just my opinions, no offence intended.. and either way, strict or lenient, i still love the forums

LOL.. free flowing community communication and trading = loss of profit for this site and it's owners. It's very simple.
It's not about abusing "rules" or the best interests of members at large - it's simply the bottom line.
This website and forum is a fairly successful BUSINESS. Don't you kids see that?

Isnt this in relation to noobs or just whore spamming to "advertise" their sig ? ...wait...ill be back i gotta spam each forum again
Ive always said its OK to advertise but not if you are spamming as in above ~ what is the valid answer for this then ?

Hey Ben and Jon,
i think that if youre gonna get rid of one youre gonna have to get rid of tge other. Cos if you cancel out advertising in a sig.....theyll start spammng forums saying "ive got one pm me" etc......but if you stamp that out then ppl will put it in their sigs again...
I guess what i have to say is that either way you go has pros and cons.....you just gotta weigh both up against the other...
But for the record i think it is a good idea as it reduces spamming through the forums and gets rid of shameless posting....
Although for arguments sake......MEMBERS could be allowed to signature advertise.....but something like that can still be hard to police unless mods are watchful....but thats another task to add to the list

i think we shouldn't try to control what people put up in their sigs, advertising or otherwise (unless its racist, sexist etc). is the issue here that people spam asking about things for sale? so why dont you just put it up in the rules that its bad, and then mods delete it when it happens. they already delete spam. ??? and joneblaze, maube ozhonda is a business, but does that matter? i've had a heap of fun here, all without paying a single cent. although im prolly wrecking my eyes by looking at my screen for too many ours in a row. lol.
i agree that members should have a greater share of priveleges than nubs. ;P
cheers
