Best Filter ?

hey there ppl..

just wondering, whats the best filters for hondas ?
as in pod filter, i hear alot of different things from different ppl, just wanted to see what you guys think...
i heard Stainless mesh ones are good (hks)
- apexi power intake
- foam filter hks style
- k&n

etc etc.. what works best u rkn ?

i m using a apexi pod filter, and i m happy with that
more power gain after 4000rpm and the vtec kick in sound really loud, but the only thing is i dunno how to clean it lolzzzzzzzzz ...
K&N, BMC .. they should be good, cox u can clean and re-use them
HKS and Blitz filter ... um ... foam and steel mesh filter, never try b4, but ppl say can't block much dirty, which is not good for the engine ...

my vote (as always) is for K&N... the Apexi is essentially the same as a dual-tract K&N filter as it's the same cotton-gauze construction.. I THINK K&N is the OEM manufacturer for Apexi filters POSSIBLY.. they have the same quality.. but you're paying extra for the 'Apexi' brandname.

whatever you do I dont reccomend FOAM style filters like HKS/GREDDY/SPOON etc. they are VERY good for performance, however they do let a fair degree of fine dust through their 'holes' and tack-oil is much messier to service than good ol' regular K&N style filter oil.. I've removed foam filters and insopected the inside of intake tubes and throttle bodies to find a LOT of dust and grime compared to basically none from K&N.

ya u r righht .. its apexi power intake, by the way, apexi is diferent with K&N
Apexi is dry (cotton, fiber, paper ... i dunno) but K&N one is wet cotton filter, u have to apply filter oil on to the K&N one

I have a TRUST replacement foam filter in my EG civic for the last 2 years or so ~ works great when freshly clean BUT gets dirty really quickly.
If you do have one make sure to clean and re-oil properly.

what ever you choose i reccomend that you try to enclose it in some way or at least try to get a cold air feed to it because you wont be extracting the maximum amount of power out of the filter and it may even send you backwards on the power charts

Apparently not with ITG filters which are foam and can hold higher dust loads and still perform

Iv got an Apexi pod and it hasnt made that much of a difference to normal driving (i have to really rev it to feel a difference). The good think about it, like others have said is the nice induction noise. Iv read heaps of threads on filters and its all pretty subjective and inconclusive... so im guessing it varies, depending on what ur values are? Thats my two cents...

i got the apexi power intake, and i read that it requires very little maintainance. it works well for me, and i love the noise it makes when u rev the engine. u can also hear a nice suction noise at idle.

The Apexi is supose to be the best filtration one. The K & N ones are also good.
The Apexi is a dry type filter so all you need to do is wash it in abit of detergent and clean then dry it. The K&N one uses an oil base so you need one of the K&N filter recharge kits to properly clean and oil it.

The stainless steel ones are not as good cos they don't filter so well, i had one before, i got dust on the inside of the pipes.

i dun think u can re-wash Apexi filter... as for the foam filters, after a while the foam tends to get harden... i would say k&n is the best.... simota filter did a test through an independant firm in usa and concluded that their filters filter better than k&n now (look under simota website)
