You can always run any portable device via an AUX input. This meaning iRivers and iPods or MD's or whatever. But your Headunit must have an AUX input. IMO, don't bother with FM Transmitters. Sound quality is shithouse.

I'm not sure if that's what you're asking about. Are you asking about the actual iPod adaptors for Headunits, where you don't need to touch your iPod, just control your iPod via the headunit.

nah, the one i saw had a cord connecting the iriver to the unit.... so im guessing it's the AUX input thing

Try one of these fm modulator these work if u dont have an aux input and they are better quality than the ones mentioned above.

not all headunits have a 3.5mm input jack or av aux input...

quality may not be as good but it does the job...

that said i use it for other stuff too

there are many different kinds of fm transmitters, a cheap version and a better version.
Belkin make both, cheap one u have 4 preset stations to tune into that all suck. this one cost about $40
The more expensive belkin model is about $70-80, with this model u can choose any frequency u want your radio to pick up the signal from. This works much, much better!

i would however recommed going thru the aux input via the back of your deck if it has one. in this case all you will need is a 3.5mmplug-2rca plugs, they cost about $15
