Thread: wire up vss

  1. #1

    wire up vss

completed a swap but the vss has to be wired

    how do i do this?

wouldn't the engine harness plug into the ecu harness and hence be wired to the ecu?

or do i need to wire it to the cluster?

the swap is carby to efi..

is this what needs to be done?

The VSS unit is already wired up to your speedo unit. On your old ECU plug, there will be a yellow/blue stripe wire that with the ignition on, turn one wheel/tyre and with a test light on this yellow/blue wire it should turn on and off at regular intervals.

Test as many wires that went to the old ecu as possible. Otherwise, the above picture will work but is a little crude.

In neutral, just spin one of the the wheels... You only want the speedo gear to spin, which connects to your CV shafts.

Better to do it in neutral so that the speedo gear actually spins. Try it again in neutral
