man u guys r ****ed, all you people are saying different things and some retards have notihng good to say so they just spam the thread saying search. ur all tools.
how the hell can people say u get big gains then somsone else sayd u get none.
check your post quality - this is a 2004 thread BTW
its still viable, some people BACK THEN were saying u get no gains, and people BACK THEN said u did get gains, so regardless people are unsure about if resetting the ECU is good or not.
The Pain Of Discipline Is Far Less Than The Pain Of Regret
OK
resetting the ecu only serves to clear some information that is stored in the main processors RAM. The ECU is powered by a constant 12V.
Resetting the ECU will clear CEL codes & other iinformation such as ling term and short term fuel trim.
These trims help the ECU determine how it should alter injector duty cycle.
So, if the information is cleared, there "may" be some gain in "initial" performance, however whilst the ECU re-learns these trims, the benefits will reduce, and when they aren't that large to begin with......
it's important to add that those variations to the short term and long term fuel trim as you put it only makes a difference in low load/part throttle driving... as soon as you get on the gas and kick the car into open loop, it won't make a bit of difference... and as such, resetting the ecu, doesn't cause an increase in hp as most people seem to think.
likewise ~ but isnt it more so , to "aid" the engine in acheiving its optimum running with new "mods" at a quicker rate ? (not to increase HP at all...never heard that misconception?)
