as title says, anyone fitted 8" wide on there eg?

they will fit under the rear guards, and the fronts are 7.5".

if so, what size tyres have you stretched over them. went to get a quote the other day, and they guy recommended 225/50/15. wtf, 225 is 9" wide. a whole inch above the actual wheel.

shed some light please

i was thinking of going a 195/50/15 on the 7.5" wheels
and a 205/50/15 on the 8" wheel
i do not want them to stretch over

Hmmmmz. I'm no wheel/tyre expert, but what that guy quoted you sounds about right.

I got 17x7s on my EK, and the tyres are 205/40/17. I can see your confusion in the '225' bit, but I don't think that's actually 225mm. I think it's an aspect ratio in respect to the height of the tyre....Of course, I could be waaay of track here, someone else confirm this?

A 225 tyre does have 225mm worth of tread, but dont forget it wraps around the tyre a bit too, so its an actual track width of 8.85 inchs.

Profile is a % of the width. So a 50 profile is a sidewall height of 50% of the width (225mm)

To choose a suitable tyre, compare different widths/profiles with the stock to find the least % deviation. Use this website

The tyres I would reccomend go on to correct wheels are as follows

6inch - 195-205
6.5inch 205-225
7inch 225-235
8inch 235-255
9inch 245-265
10inch 255-285

I am in preference to go the skinnier, better fitting tyre then making it buldge over the lip.

Hmm and also, you may get issues with your car driving in a straight line after that! With wider tyres, the car tends to drive itself. 8inches is a bit ridicoulous on an EG - Thats the stuff that GTRs run! 7" is the max i would go for. Not only are costs reduced, but also the issue of legality would be taken care of as well.

when the wheel says 7 inches, thats the inner measurement. When physically measured, its a little wider. Same applies for the diameter.
