OK, time for the next step: Engine Rebuild
Ok, it's time for a rebuild.
I'm looking for forged pistons and rods. The main reason why I am going to rebuild is so I can go forced induction. My car is blowing smoke out the back, and it has done 174,000k.
I took it to panda[CRX] for service, but yeah, I don't want to keep burning oil, bolt a turbo on and then have to rebuild anyway.
SO ~ Forced Induction Rebuild.
I don't want to spend too much money. THis is what I guess I need.
Forged Pistons, Rods. Gaskets, Valve Stem seals, water pump, all belts.
What kind of ballpark figure do you expect for rebuilding a B18C2.
What compression ratio do you suggest for forced induction applications.
Do I need to have the head worked on.
-
if you're oing to run relatively low boost, ie 12psi max, go with relatively high compression, around the 10.5-1 mark.
If you're going high compression, say 15-20psi, step down compression slightly and select a flat top turbo piston design.
I prefer wiseco, others CP, or whatever, you generally wont go wrong.
Eagle rods are good value.
Head work, would be a nice to have, but not essential.
You'd better go stainless valves for high boost apps.
Goodluck.

OK, how much do you think a set of Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods can be had for?.
-
At a guess, both with piston pins & rings for around the $850mark.
-
ok... so what about the con-rods?
And how much do you think labour is in this process. approximately.
-
I just scored a F20C short block so will be rebuilding with sleeves, low comp pistons, stroked crank and shorter rods. I would appreciate recommendations for local engineers that can do this sort of work.

contact jimmeh from dna racing for all prices.....cheaps as chips man!dnaracing1@hotmail.com

Cheers! Where abouts are they?
-
Dulwich Hill? That's not to far.
-
no , he operates from home but very reliable. he is on the forums name : "Jimmeh"
just send hima p.m for prices
-
Ok, but it's really the engineering that is the issue not the parts. I need someone who can machine the sleeves out and install ductile iron ones.
