Good flywheel for Civic VTi-R?

The money he is paying to machine his flywheel indicates that this is only a light surface machining... this is required for the new clutch to mate to the flywheel and has nothing to do with lightening it.

hey im just about to take my car in to get the clutch and flywheel done, heres what i got quoted:

Exedy Clutch :$250
Flywheel Machined: $30
Engine Seal (Spiggot i think its called): $60
Labour & Install: $300

Total: $640

What clutch is that for $250 ?
I got qoted $500 for an exedy heavy duty pressure plate with organic clutch, $300 for labour.

Oh another question, Daikin makes Exedy clutches, wouldn't it be cheaper to get a Daikin rather than pay more for the Exedy name? I'm not even sure if it's cheaper, but just a thought...

my engine (b18c1 hybid) is in bits at the moment... and i am contemplating taking my flywheel to get lightened while its apart... (and i dont have the cash to be buy a lightened one.)

has anyone done this to their integra Vtir flywheel before???? is it worthwhile???? and how much should i lighten it???

Hey boyz its a good idea ive done it 2 a couple os customer's cars & its actually more rinspove down low (on take off). the cost for the machining work si about $150 - $200. hope ive been helpful

From what I've read on forums, if you want a light flywheel fork out and get a proper lightened flywheel rather than machining to make it light.
I'm getting mine machined only because i'm getting a new clutch put in.

i too have a civic vtir (although a coupe). it's completely stock...........would it make a difference if i get an aftermarket litghtweight flywheel? what does it do anyway? would it work well with the factory engine? would i need to change my clutch too? :?

well guys, its alot cheaper to lighten ur factory flywheel.

As for making it weaker with lightening it, in what sense do they mean? my flywheel is ligthened and i abuse the thing daily with all the power i hve in my car.

As for clutchs, dont bother with a brass button or solid centre exedy, pm me and ill tell u a great option that will give u good gripping power with street driveability.

Hey guys I was told by a mate fly lightening isn't that great because it lowers the engine enertia so it slows down to quick between shifts...

But then i said it would then make down shifts faster and smoother... he said yeah sorta.

Whats the deal? What sort of performance am i gonna be looking at... better throttle response? better power put down at the wheels? better down shifts?

If anyone could answer those it'd be great coz i'll have my engine out soon and I'm doing the clutch while i'm at it.

it gets to redline quicker, because off less inertia. therefore when you drop off the accelerator you will also drop revs quicker (great for being in peak hour traffic)

yeah it decels fsater too, but u can voercome that with skills
