    Crower Cams goin in soon.....

Just a general question to all you Honda drivers....
With my crower cams ill have the option of leaving them with a lumpy, worked motor sounding idle..

If been told in another Forum its not a good idea to leave the idle lumpy(americans) i belive they have strickter emision rules.

But since im in Perth i thought i might let the motor sound like somethings about to happen....

What are ppls thoughts on this, would any of you blokes do it or should i get the idle to sound stock??

Ill be getting other work done to Cyl head aswell as a S2 intake mani.

Lumpy idle here has nothing to do with our emission laws. It just sounds gay on anything but a V-8! It's just so high pitched it's not right! It also says, "hey look, I have mods, wanna race?" and that's when the cops get involved. It doesn't hurt anything, might screw with throttle response if it's really bad. I don't think any of the Crower cams are going to make it idle rough enough to worry, that will be timing. If it's sound you are looking at, that would be the exhaust tuning. I don't think you're going to sound like a V-8 anytime soon but good luck!

Dont want a V8 sound... id get a SS or Xr8 for that..
I had a camed 6cyl a couple of years ago and it sounded awsome.
If i get sick of the sound i can always get it tuned out.

an itr shouldn't sound like that... and i don't think a dc2 should either. if it was a bigger engine then i would say yes, but i wouldn't do it.

its been well looked after 95 with 180 000ks.
asking is 12 but i he would take 10gs.
it stick standard so it didnt feel as quik as my moded gsi but ill transfer all my mods from the GSI to it. vtec kicked in at round 5500 rpm thats the usual rpm????

yeah, that rpm sounds ok for vtec kicking in. for a vtir i'd say anywhere from 5000 to 6000rpm is ok

VTEC on the VTi-R "kicks in" at 4400 rpm.

You won't hear it though. What you are hearing is the intake manifold secondaries which open at 5700rpm.

Also, what crower cams are you putting in.. They do make more than one cam... You'd be hardpressed to get a lumpy idle on a set of 403's; Or you could be slapping in a set of 405's in which case I don't think you'd have the option to ask this question

That is if we are talking about non-vtec.

VTEC exists to avoid the whole lumpy idle thing from over-camming down low. In which case, your probably better off just getting a set of ITR/CTR cams.

    403s for a nonvtec.
ive heard a few clips of them idling and they do sound lumpier than average integ idle.
