[Euro] GruppeM intake impressions (pics and sound clip)

The other thread is becomming a bit long in the tooth... with me constantly adding new pics a sound clip, and updated information.

I decided to compile all the information in this thread, and give more detailed impressions here. Mods if this isn't suitable feel free to delete this thread or merge it with the old GruppeM Intake thread

Before it was on the car (photos taken by my supplier while the part was still interstate - hence the wrapping):

    Pics on the car:

You may need to save the file to disk before playing it. (if the link doesn't work let me know and I'll ask a friend to host it)

    Impressions
    • No real gains or losses felt below 3-3.5k rpm
    • 4krpm and above noticeable gains are felt
    • approaching 6k rpm and above the most aggressive vtec cross over becomes even more pronounced in volume and feel of acceleration (most gains are felt here)
    • overall the intake provided a similar gain to the maxim works exhaust manifold and euroR cat and the bias is clearly toward the mid to high end as well.
    • sound is marginally quieter then the INJEN intake in CAI mode - thanks to Matell for testing this out with me.

More details or questions... feel free to ask

    1. 99.99999% kinda in a grey area. Pod filters aren't really allowed i don't think, but that's because they are generally exposed - this one is enclosed from the engine bay.
    2. Got it second hand for about $100 - brand new you're looking at about $200-250
    3. haha saturday night i cleaned it after i realised how dirty it was in the pics the night-time lighting really showed all the dirt up

    that looks and sounds .

was it a easy task to install???
did u need to move the battery???

it was actually quite difficult to install as it comes in a number of parts (the filter has to be clamped onto the cf heat shield).

the battery had to be compltely removed and the earthing altered slightly so it could fit in there.

The heat shield is made within the mm to seal off the engine bay

wow that clip sounds really nice - a nice deep note. Car definately sounds a tad quicker through the rev range - mmm lightweight flywheel.

How sad - I can pick the revs rising quicker on the Euro by the sound.

    hahaha - good ear yfin.

that's a rolling start from 2k rpm in 1st to redline, then second to redline.

You should hear how quick 1st winds out with a decent launch

Thanks for sharing this with us chris.. i could notice as well that the range of the first two gears were very quick!! hey just might be out of topic but..where did you get ur Cusso strut bar from? heeltoe.com? thanks man

yep! the flywheel makes a huge difference. Could probably get a flywheel installed (the 4.7kg unit off the jdm dc5r) for under a grand. In my books, it makes more of a difference than any intake or exhaust could in the first couple of gears (especially first) - defintiely a mod i would reccomend.

contact the guys at www.centraxauto.com.au I get most of my parts from there - good prices and even better service

Chris: that carbon fibre case alone already makes the car look faster, not to mention the pod inside. Time to bring your Eurio to QR and test its full potential.
