Please help!!! Wet carpet
i have had my car since jan and nothing has been wrong with it, perfect car mechanicaly interior is smich and i couldnt figure out why i picked it up for such a steel
i have only just realised after i finaly got around to giving my interior a vacume that my driver side carpet is wet...i never realised because i have floor mats that are rubber backed so it has never come through to my mats
i lifted the carpet today and the water is coming from what looks like rubber covering with a foam backing which is pretty much under the pedals to where your toes would sit...it is cracked in some places and the water is seeping through the soaked foam and onto my interior carpet
this is only on the drivers side and is not to bad yet but i want to attck it now while the weather is not that bad and before my car smells water damaged
anybody help me let me know what the rubber surface is there for, if its happened to anyone tell me what you did
please help!!!

get the hose out and get someone to run water onto your sunroof, then look under the dash to see if its coming from that hose.
if so replace/repair that hose
-
the rubber surface is there as deadening to keep out noise and heat from reaching the cabin

sorry
you get someone to pour water on the sunroof with a garden hose
while your in the car looking for the leak,
as you said you saw it leaking from that hose, replace or repaire that hose. make sure your windscreen isnt leaking.
-
if it were the windscreen would it still leek onto the floor of the drivers side??? how???
i never said a hose, what hose could it be and where is this???
when i lifted the carpet there is what looked like a rubber gromet, do you know what this is???

yeah the car has several gromets,
best get a torch so you can see and the hose on it.
water will find its way to the carpet no matter where its leaking from,
on a 4 door I have seen the rear door causing the drivers floorwell to get wet,
look in your kick pannel, you will see a hose that goes up the A pillar, this is the sunroof drain, make sure ist ok and not leaking.
sometimes to find a leak you just have to spend a bit of time to find it with a hose and someone crouched under the dash with a torch looking for it.

im new to this, so could you explain it noob style...kick panel and a frame??? where do i find the drain for the sunroof???

i had the same problem with my old LS
spent 2days with a hair dryer dryin it up... havnt used rubber floor mats since. my theory is that the water got in there a over a week b4 i discovered it, as it was raining, and the my jeans/shoes got drenched. the rubber mats kept the moisture in there for a while... didnt have wet carpet since that although it did rain several times

yeah i like the rubber mats though, my ones are so thick and soft
did you fix the leek or did you just chance it and it never happened since???
-
i took the chance... assumed it was from me opening the door to get in when it rained, as well as my feet being drenched.
my car is parked outside... and once i got rid of the floor mats, it neva happened again.
