injen/tyhoon cai has better gains up top but loss of bottom end (loud loads of induction noise)
comptech has minimal loss bottom end and a little gain up top (only hear induction noise when in upper rev range)

I have a comptech but in hind sight might have gone for proper cai after hearing a few on the road the proper cai really roar up top

As much as I support the traders here - that guy Peekay pointed to on ebay is by far the cheapest by a long way even with shipping costs. Shop around by all means - but I have been there and done that and Acura of Escondido is the cheapest and also reliable.

ps order the Comptech filter cleaning kit from them too - you will not pay any extra shipping and it is only $9.50US

Just ordered the icebox. Will post impressions later when installed. Thanks again fellas!

I have the comptech and it was not very difficult to install and I am quite happy wth it.

I elected to take the bumper off which proved the most difficult part of the install.

As mentioend previously you can install it without bumper removal.

    Good Luck

Installed the icebox yesterday. The bumper was a biatch to take off but luckily it all went well. The car definitely revs quicker and smoother with the icebox. My butt dyno tells me that the car is a bit faster too. In short, great product and good mod to have! Thanks for all the info guys.

Thinking of getting Comptech IceBox, as my 1st performance upgrades :P i hope it is a right choice for me. just some questions. How much power increase will i receive from this mod?
also, where can i get it from? i saw one on ebay from the state, also one from the trader forum, JDM concept? where else?
and what's the average price for them? so i don't get ripped off thanks

You will only get a few hp increase with this mod but what makes it special it how it improves power delivery. It revs much faster and doesn't hold back, regardless of weather. You also get a nice sounding engine note when you floor it.

The only downside to this mod is that you will get some resonance in the cabin at certain rpms from the removal of the resonator.

I got mine for $150US from ebay and installed it myself. Took me a bit more than 2 hours. Good luck!

so it increase hp, but the main aim of icebox is to improves power felivery, and rev faster than stock.

does that mean it will also improve & gain acceleration? eg 0-100km?
is it worth getting? better than getting a K&N filter? any regards getting it tho?? thx for all your info.

can you explain "you will get some resonance in the cabin at certain rpms from the removal of the resonator" in plain english, i don't really understand it lol sorry

There is a definite improve in acceleration but i'm not sure how that would translate to 0-100km/h times. I'm not sure how it compares to using just a k&n filter but it would be safe to say that with the icebox is a lot more effective. You can also use the k&n filter with the icebox as far as i know.
IMO it's a very good mod to get.

About the resonance. You might hear a "buzzing noise" when you give the car more throttle at some rpms. The resonator is designed to remove these noises but it also inhibits performance. It's like a vibration sound.
