open the engine bay , get a friend to slowly rev it in neutral (or slowly move the throttle via ur hand) and try to distinguish where the noise is coming from...the head ? the gearbox ? The bottom end ?
Could be injectors , could be valves out of whack / too tight/loose , could be main bearing , could be a ISB , could be your pressure plate , could be a mouse with a drumstick !

From experience, on my car it was the clutch bearing and the dizzy bearing.
Just age of the car, normal wear and tear so I had to get those replace.
Took me ages to figure it out myself.

Take your car to a mechanic, as it could be anything.

Could just be noisey lifters or maybe a noise speedo cable, is the car behaving badly?
Hard to tell with noise stuff, might have to goto a place to get them to have a free quote!
