Purchasing carpet for false floor.

I've almost completed the false floor I began planning a couple of years ago (I'm pretty lazy) and am in need of some carpet to cover the whole lot with.

I used to go to Daley's Supplies down at Villawood (or their shop in Parramatta) for all my materials, but am pressed for time and am wondering if there's a large supplier around the Blacktown area that anyone is aware of.

I want something that looks good and is hard-wearing, none of that Jaycar grey that doesn't match a thing in my car, and fluffs up.

Daley's will have exactly what I need, but there's no chance of me getting there unless I take a day off.

I think marine carpet is a good choice. Its VERY heavy duty, and a bit grippy so your stuff wont slide around much. Its also hard to stain and easy to clean.

I got some really descent hard wearing carpet from Bunnings Warehouse (hardware store if you don't have it whereever you are).

So far i've been camping heaps of times and its had a shit load of wear and tear but it still looks brand new.

Just make sure its a descent thickness and isn't too long so it doesn't go all fluffy.

I went to Bunnings and bought some pretty good unbacked stuff. Suits the car better than the original festy boot carpet!

I have some dogy progress pics, I just need to sand smooth the area around the sub and then make a 'hill' around the sub so that I can have a grille covering it. Damn, big pic! Dunno if I should cut the carpet flush with the wood lines or trim around all the edges.

All panels are held in place with several cabinet lock things and don't bounce or move around at all. I'll have my mountain bike and other gear in the boot pretty much every day so I needed something rugged and solid in there. May give the mdf a coat of resin to make sure water doesn't damage it.

Damn that looks good! Erm, spare tyre access? hehe

I made my floor out of desperation, I need boot space, but I missed not having bass. I also needed a spare. Right now I have a space saver, but a full sized one should JUST fit in for longer trips. Also, I wanted to play around with a fibreglass sub box.

My amp's a chunky mofo bolted to the panel on the lower left. You can barely see the bolts that suspend it. I have fans, will install them if necessary. If it ends up looking alright I'll upgrade both the amp and sub.

I've started trimming, should have the lower three portions done by tomorrow night, and then the top panel should be puttied up and ready for trimming by Thrusday night. Spending the long weekend away from home so gotta chop chop!

In my one I created a lift up door where my left leg is in the first pic. I also created one on the other side. I can fit my spare tyre under one and bolted my amp to the bottom of the other. Suprisingly enough i haven't had any heat issues with the amp which has been great.

Heres a pic. I highly reccomend the carpet too. It hasn't creased or gotten any permanent dints in it at all!!

EDIT: Sorry about the pic size guys. I've also incorporate the speaker grill much better now.

looks really good man. Perhaps one day I could get around to making myself a false floor, considering the crappy fibreboard it came with stock has given way.
