That won't be good for handling though.... When you brake for a corner, the weight transfer to the front will cause the coils to compress but the travel is too short to absorb the force and will result in understeer...

Just a quick question, if you have a set of 18" can you keep a 17" as spare and use it when one of the 18" is flat. If so, what are the speed limitation do you need to adhere to?
A set of 4 Euro Lux 05- 17" OEM wheels in good condition for sale, rims and rubber. PM me if your interested

If the overall rolling diameters are the same, then you can use the 17". Because the weight of the 17" rim + tyre is different to the 18" rim + tyre, I'd still drive it at 80-100km/h max and get the 18" flat tyre repaired ASAP.

My guess is that Honda created a fake marketting barrier to try to entice Euro buyers into getting the more expensive Lux model to get 17" rims, but in reality, Honda/Dealers are loosing money because they dont supply 17" honda accessory rims to the std euro's.

$8000 is not enough to justify 17"+ rim compatibility... and people who give a damn about how their rims look like, will know that 17" and 18" rims will fit with no problem anyway.
Hey Mate you HIT the nail right on the head with that coment. I suspect this to be the same situation with the civic 06 vti/vtil not being able to apparently take the rims from the sports model. I got he run around from head office about ADR, warranty issues, and much other BS. Now I am looking at a 2004 Euro.

drove around more today, the wheels give a very weird feedback to the steering.. sudden jolts to one side and also it tends to veer to the right, overall its alot harder to drive than with the 16's..

its also a slightly harsher ride, slower acceleration at low end.
