This is what the auto electrician told me. The starter motor there is a gear wheel, it goes into the the engine and rotates the Bendix wheel and comes back. The Bendix wheel teeth are broken, and the bendix wheel is connected to the crank. Quite pissed of i spent $330 on a starter motor that wasnt gone at all. Anyways, calling up wreckers to find a engine.
What is that mechanic talking about? A Bendix gear is the component which engages the teeth on the engine flywheel ring. If the Bendix gear is broken, it certainly does not mean your crank shaft is broken!!! and you certainly do not need to change the drive shaft, much less the flywheel.
If your car's manual, you might be able to bump start the car, but I don't recommend it unless you know exactly whats wrong.

Reckon you've been fed alot of bull shit. I'd spend a bit more and get the car towed to a more reliable mechanic. Penny wise pound foolish.
