Thread: 4-1 headers

    4-1 headers

hello. i am thinking of buying 4-1 headers off ebay, look very similar to the xforce.

would it be worth putting a 4-1 on a stock motor? i have a D16A8.

yes its worth putting it on a stock motor.

    keep this in mind.

4-2-1 = better low to middle end response.

4-1 = better top end response.

give us a link to the headers your buying

i thought that the 4-1 collector would actually give me a loss rather than a gain because it's a stock motor.

stock headers are very restrictive and so is the exhaust. This is due to comply with emissions law etc. headers giv more power than a cat back exhaust and help the engine flow better.
go for it. also with the 4-1 u need to rev ur car out to make the most out of the power. Thus make sure u have good quality oil at the reccomended level ALWAYS.

If you changed the headers would it effect emissions?

rather than the price i was concerned about the design of the header, how is the xforce 4-1? it would be very similar if not identical to that one.

When my standard exhaust manifold cracked i purchased 4-2-1 extractors (i think they're 4-2-1). I'm not exactly sure the difference between the standard exhaust manifold and extractors - but my torque is MUCH better with the extractors.

PS - I get confused by all these different names - headers and exhaust manifold are the same thing?

    Yeh,

Headers = extractors = exhaust manifold

alot of the 4-1 headers sit very low so be careful.

The x-force ones copy the JDM 4-1 so don't sit as low.
That's as much as 1 pipe length difference. Can be a real pain if your car is even the slightest bit low.
