I took my car to the hills today..and it just struck me the best thing i could do for myself is get better brakes... is there a BOYB option? can i use something like dc2R brakes or something on an ek4?

yeah the best u can do with factory parts is the ITR brakes.

Good luck getting a set of front hubs and knuckles, rear trailing arms and hubs, callipers, pads, rotors, p/brake cables, longer flexible brakelines, master cylinder, booster etc from a type R for under $1000. Then you still need wheels. I got a set of naked ITR front hubs recently for the bargain price of $160. When I got them home and had a look I realised I had thrown my cash away as one of the front knuckles was completely bent, the front hub rooted along with the whell bearing.

If you have an EK you can get a set of 98-00 accord discs and redrill to 4 X 100, get a set of prelude, accord, crv, hrv or ITR callipers (all the same), have 2mm skimmed off the caliper bracket mounting surface and these will bolt on. Do not use any other disk as they wont fit (bigger hub hole diameter). All this will cost you about 800-1000 but it will work almost as well as the full ITR swap (assuming you have rear disks already) and unless you are running 14" wheels you will not have to fork out for 5 stud rims.

I'm sorry to be contradicting what people have already said and potentially opening up another can of worms but your better off spending good money on good pads and machining your rotors properly (if they are still ok and hae enough meat on them).

The standard EK4 brakes in my opinion are pretty good...... just if you are needing better braking force and resistance to fade, you are better off getting good pads. After that see if you still need to do the brake mods that have been suggested above.

My guess is you will not!

go to a honda specialist c what they say about braking i have integra dc2 calipers and disk hubs on my eg civic they are pretty much bolt on im not sure about an ek civic if there is a diffrence

stick to your brakes and just get better pads and rotors.
