Mixing Honda FEO oil with others

Ive currently got an 2001 DC2r that was serviced at 51,500 ks with Honda FEO oil. At 53,500 its already half way gone.

Should I top this up with 2 litres of Motul 300v? Or keep up the Honda FEO?? Top up with another oil???

Ive heard mixed reactions to mixing oil....

If its just a top up then why not. However I have read somewhere that motul cannot be mixed unless its a PAO based oil? Just read on the labels just to make sure. or just go buy yourself some FEO or a semi synthetic oil like magnatec if you are uncomfortable, besides if its just for top up, i'd rather oil then no oil. Btw, i have mixed oils before just for top ups.

You can mix oils. But I'd rather top up with FEO now and save that 300V for your next oil change.

if you are going to run FEO again why not just buy another bottle.

but it should be ok to top up.

i really ddont think its that big a deal... and be used to oil levels doing that in your car dude... keep an eye on the levels regularly.

What i tend to do is hang on to the remants of the 5L bottle as topup until my next change

two reasons to add the motul:

I have a 2 litre bottle sitting there doing nothing...

ive also heard that it lasts longer than feo....

so far 2 litres of feo has got me only 2000ks.....

It lasts longer if you are not burning oil. If your oil level is dropping, then Motul won't last any longer than FEO. Motul is more resistant than FEO to breaking down. But both of them are the same when being burnt.

If you want to reduce oil usage, use 10w-40 oil instead. If it still burns, then go 10w-50. The first number can be 0w, 5w or 10w. Don't go any higher unless you want enhanced engine wear when you start your car in the morning or when cold.

l will suggest u keep top up the FEO oil untill the next 5000 km's oil change service.....

coz the viscosity of every engine oil r different. and there might be slightly very for the efficiency working temperature too..... what we can read on the label is just the "round up" and ez for consumers to read.....

anyway , not matter theorecally and practically , mixing oil is not a good idea for the engine.... ( unless u r in the middle of the outback and run out of engine oil during travelling .... ;p)

plz do do that to ur engine and love ur VTEC...

    stay tune.....
    Yo~~! Vtec go ! go ! go !
