    civic help

ok i got a d16y4 engine and gearbox out of a 99 ek gli.

my mate told me that all D series engine are compatable. im planning to buy an older model civic and drop the engine in as a run around. (since it only done 65000km)

what model/year civic can i purchase that would allow me for a simple swap (ie same engine mounts, gearbox, drive shaft etc etc) i have the ecu and wreck with MOST parts.

    thanks guys

p.s what year civic did the d16y4 engine first came out in?

    that engine was from EK

if you want to put in into a car that is going to be an easy swap then do it to a efi EG, anything carb will requre a bit more work.

any efi EG will do? i didnt know the EG has the same enginie mounts as the EK.

will this be a direct swap?

ah.. i've done this to my car already, everything bolts up, besides... the coolant by pass pipe, i had to use the eg one, i used the speed sensor from the old geabox, and old instake manifold, so i didn't have to change the harness, and my old 02 sensor as well.

engine mounts are different, but when on the engine, they are all inthe right spot.

i hope you know what your doing.
    lol.
it's easier if you have a engine hoist and stand, and remove the bonnet.
