difference between Chassis bar and Strut brace

was wondering if anyone knew the difference between a chassis bar and a strut brace as in terms of strengthening/ridgidy of the chassis.

i know stock vtirs/type r's have a chassis bar since it does not go directly over the struts.
so whats the difference between having a strut tower brace going that one bit extra .

also any reason why one would be prefered over the other?

or are they both the same, i dunno lol

    regards
    steve

As far as I know they have the same function. To make the chasis more rigid and support so there is less flex.
    blah blah blah
