Flat tire fixed?

Well went to the Kumo tire shop to fix my mums puncture. A screw had gone into the tire. Well the guy said it would be $15 to fix so I thought sweet.

The way he fixed it was kind of wtf really. He took the screw and in its place put this long piece of rubber, shoved it in really hard.

Is this normal/a good enough solution?

then they should seal it from the insdie as well.

Well it depends on the size of the puncture.

I've had to repair a few nail/screw punctures and I basically did the same thing as what they did. Take out nail/screw, clean out the whole. Then insert a rubber strip which is covered in a sticky adhesive substance, twist and pull out at the same time. Then cut off excess. Havn't had any problems with any of the cars I've done it on, basically it lasted the duration of the tyres!!!

The kits range anywhere from 20-100, depending on how much material is supplied and what the actually tools are constructed of. Personally I think this type of repair kit is better than the green gunk that's available...

Bodgey. You could have done what he did using a $15 kit that you buy from BigW. If you paid to get it fixed at a tyre place, you want it fixed with a mushroom plug from the inside.

im pretty sure they did it from the inside coz u cant have the butt of it on the tire... coz everytime the wheels rotates u can feel where the puncture is!!!

Yeah this is called "roping", not really any issues when using it, I had to do it twice from screws about last year, and basically it's time for new tires and I haven't had any issues from it, but I probably wouldn't pay someone to do it, since you can do it yourself.
