fuel economy test DA9 LS integra

I have a 1991 Integra LS manual with the 1.8. Before someone cracks the shi*s at me for not searching.. I am not asking how much my car uses in petrol to the tank(about 10 litres per 100km) i wish it was more like the 8.5 litres that some sources claim it should be. But i would like to know why the car seems to be super economical for the first half of the tank and then crap for the second half. Every time i fill up my tank it will take a good 100 km before the needle even moves past 'full'. When the needle says half a tank, its usually at around 285 kms or so. but after that the needle is much quicker to go down. Now im on about 405 kms to the tank and its already quite close to the empty line. Are the needles a little innaccurate or do these cars run better on a fuller tank? By the way this tank i havent been driving it hard at all... Last time i got about 480kms to the tank.

inaccurate fuel guage. I don't think the ammount of fuel in the tank makes any difference. Why don't you just fill up every half tank and see how much fuel it takes, maybe you're onto something, but I doubt it.

    mine was also like that.

i always assumed that maybe the fuel tank was bigger up top, and smaller at the bottom, lol.

    but thats drivin pretty good..
i usually get lik 400-500 out a tank..but yeah i notice dat 2, and dats y everytime i get near half i fill up again

common problem, but after a while you get use to knowing how much fuel you have got in your tank. The other day i got 567km on a tank of fuel with 5 litres left.

    Question

hay, is it just me or dont, i mean all DA9s dont have a fuel warning light?
coz im sure i dont have 1, unless i ve never seen it come on....
but yeah, i dont evan hav a door sensor light either, lik they(Honda) giv us all electronics but forget the basics, lol; i no it only 2 doors, but every car got that light @least
    so yeah
any1 got a fuel light of some sort?
    or is not 1?
sory if this is off topic....

I get the same problem. I'm driving along, look at my gauge, and start having a great day 'coz I'm at 1/2 and have driven 300ks....then the next thing I know I'm at empty (The E mark, 40L used and with the 10L left in reserve) and at my regular 480-520km.
