Mixing oils is usually ok, although once I mixed Castrol Magnetic with another brand (FEO or Mobile1 I think) and the car spitted out some white smoke the day after. No damage though..

You never know what chemicals they add to the oils, so to be safe, you should drain the old oil and start fresh.

Type r's and Vtec engines are oil hungry when pushed on a regular basis... if you are not thrashing your car much i would be checking for a leak or getting a mechanic to look at it maybe the car has fcked rings... 50,000kms i doubt it unless the previous owner thrashed it bad..

I'd top it up with magnatec. They are both mineral, and magnatec being 10w-40 will balance out with the FEO (which has probably broken down to less than 10w-30).
