Itr LSD into b16 gearbox issue thrust shim ?

Hey everyone down with my mate we are putting a itr final drive into my b16 gearbox.
Followed his know how , but alittle stuck ( these are his words ! )

on the mainshaft when we assemble it , because we leave out the thrust shim it drops the entire gear set down that thickness. Now , you can't put the other shaft in because you can't fit the two washers into the gap of the mainshaft end. In other words 1st gear hangs 2-3mm lower

when we put the gears onto this itr countershaft , is the thrust shim required ?if on it makes the gearset sit like oem but the shim actuall moves around quite
abit too. The ID is larger than the countershaft OD

    help !

oh wow... i'm having a similar issue with installing just the 4.9FD.

My DC2R countershaft is missing the thrust shim.

Any ideas on the part number? Honda wanted a VIN# to confirm but i drive an EG

    Here's where it goes.

    Fail...

B18C LSD or any OEM LSD for that matter does not fit B16A gearbox...

    Problems are:
Final drive ring gear incorrect ID & PCD for bolts
Fix - 4.2 or 4.4 final drive ring gear required (use B18C2) - count teeth to confirm.

Change lsd & final drive into B16A box...
Problem moves to 1st counter gear.
    B16A 1st counter gear ID = 42mm
    B18C 98 spec 1st counter gear ID = 47mm
So B18C 98 spec countershaft, distance collar, needle bearing & 1st counter gear required as a fix.

As for problem with thrust shims...
    You're doing it wrong...

Don't take offence, I am trying to help... LOL

well, toda_au said it wont fit because of different 1st gear ID, that is what's wrong.

see below, B18C 98 dont use thrust shim, they use distance collar (no.8), and because of this, the needle bearing (no16.) and 1st gear (no.2) is also different

and about the FD ring gear's PCD, it is like 4 stud wheel wont fit 5 stud hub

Ahh, I failed to mention i'm using a b16a non LSD gearbox specific FD.

All is good, I have faith in the installer.

bit off topic but are the gears in a b16 box not meant to line up perfectly? ie: the gears on one shaft sit few mm above the other?
