    Vehicle Rules for NSW

Here's a one for the stickys i think. Its the regulations for certain modification and legals on motor vehicle mods.

    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...i/vsi_dl1.html

P.S i've only done the NSW ones cos i knew they were there. I'm sure they are available in other states.

So people asking about legality of wheels, engine mods etc... have a look at this link! (again this one was for NSW people, i'm biased )

the NSW "Light Vehicle Modification Guidelines" (VSI06) here:

    http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati.../vsi/vsi06.pdf

and the similar Victorian "Guide to Modifications of Motor Vehicles" (VSI08) here:

    http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrpdf/rdsafe/VSI%208.pdf

are both old State based rules that about to be (or have already been) supersceded by the National Code of Practice...

    http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/s.../vsb_ncop.aspx

The National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (NCOP) has been prepared by members of the Australian Motor Vehicle Certification Board Working Party in consultation with industry, user groups, government agencies and individuals with an interest in light vehicle construction and modification.

It is important to note that the NCOP is a "live" document and will be updated by the Working Party as required.

Please be aware that the NCOP only represents the technical requirements that must be met - administrative requirements are dealt with separately by each state and territory's administrative guidelines or business rules.
but still EVERYTHING must comply with the ADR's:

    http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/motor/design/index.aspx

    summarised nicely here:

    http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/vrpdf...e/VSI%2022.pdf

now this REALLY might be one for the stickies...

useful only if they bother to search before posting

ADR 28 covers noise, it has never been state based:

The function of this ADR is to define limits on external noise generated by motor vehicles in order to limit the contribution of motor traffic to community noise

Copy of the ADR short links, you can order a CD for the full ADRs for a cost of course (Govt ain't giving away freebies)

    http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/motor/design/index.aspx

P.S Tink - that first post that you stated only refers to the ADRs it does not supercede the State rules. It only adds the ADRs to them.

Ah well those rules that you said superceed the State rules are just pointing out the ADRs. They've always been around, and the state rules point out when there is an ADR present and overridding. So the rules are still current just need to check on ADRs where the state rules point out. i.e noise
