    Which euro is more popular?

I am just curious, which one people buy more, the standard euro or the luxury one?

My head says that more people buy the standard euro because it's cheaper and better value (IMO).

But, I see more euro luxury on the street. I'am in Melbourne.

Does anyone have info or some sales statistics?

    Thanks.

    Put a poll up then.

I myself have a Std cause it was lighter than a lux and didn't want 1/2 the extras anyway.

When you compare the base Euro to the $30,000-38,000 competition, it is at the top of its class. When you compare the lux Euro to the $40,000-48,000 competition, the V6 models of the competition become more attractive.

    Thanks for the info EuroDude
I will buy euro next year, but I am still not sure which one to get, the std or lux.
Here is the reason why I think Euro standard is better value.

If we look at civic VTI-L and civic sport, the RRP price difference is $ 5500 ($24490 vs $29990 for the manual).

The extras (compared to VTI-L) that we get in civic sport are:
    - leather trim
    - bigger engine
    - sunroof
    - bigger alloy
    - fog lamp
    - curtain airbag

The significant difference between VTI-L and the sport is the engine. The bigger engine and other lux features are priced at $5500 by Honda

Now, if we compare euro standard vs luxury, the difference is $7000 ($33500 vs 40500). The extras in lux are:
    - leather trim
    - sunroof
    - bigger alloy
    - fog lamp
    - curtain airbag
    - HID lamp
    - front lamp washer
    - front seat heater
    - auto day night mirror
    - electric front seat

Do you think these extras in the luxury worth $7000? I think it should be less than $7000 as there is no significant difference between std and lux. The important components for both models are the same (eg. engine, VSA).

It's different story if the lux has different engine (eg. turbo charged or bigger engine)

Based on this info, I think the std is better value.
Some people might disagree with me. That's OK. I would like to hear other people's opinions.

It's because people who are buying in the small car segment are willing to pay less for leather and luxuries than someone who was buying in the medium-sized luxury sedan. They can charge more for the stuff in the Euro. They can't do that for the Civic. And yes, the base Euro has better value. Even over the Civic Sport!

The Lux Euro is poor value in my opinion. But the Standard is outstanding value. All I wanted was the Leather seats for my standard but you have to fork out $7000 for this which is stupid.

Also the Standard is a bit lighter and therefore maybe a bit quicker. Cetainly mine feels quicker than the fully load Lux I test drove.
I went to the modded XR5 Turbo with Mods - the dark side.....BOOOOST!

You can buy real leather seat covers for the standard euro, and they are custom made to fit the Accords seat properly.

Saw them on eBay a while ago, they were quite cheap too. (only around $300-500 I think)

    Civic Sport = 1260 kg
    Euro Standard = 1,375 kg
    Euro Lux = 1,440 kg

65kg difference is the weight of some people, which as we know makes a difference with 4cyl engines.

The lux 6MT can do 7.8sec, the Standard can do something like 7.6 or possibly lower. Ive noticed that performance is a considerable difference when I have a passenger.

Whats the Civic Sport, about 8.9sec to 100km?

I had a Lux Euro as a loan car once and could certainly feel the difference between the 2. I felt at home when I got mine back.

Suspension was changed from 05 so it is definately different. One dealer told me it was to make it softer as some people were commenting on test drives that the ride was too harsh. It is unclear whether suspension changed in 05 for standard models.
