Thanks guys I'm from the Fairfield/Liverpool area I see quite a few around here and I work in the hills area I've seen two CW's up there as well driving around the home maker centre.
I work at Norwest Business Park. Does your plate begin with BVU by any chance? Drove next to one today while going to work.

Thought I'd introduce myself quickly... my name is Andy and I bought a CW EP3R about 2 months ago. Prior to buying it I did a lot of research mainly on the EP3 threads here, and ended put a deposit down at IMG.
Anyway I should be saying thanks to everyone who has contributed their experiences and recommendations about this fantastic car. It definitely makes the 40-50 min daily drive to work a lot more exciting!
And tonight I decided to stop hiding from my computer screen, say hello and start making some friends who drive the same car LOL! I just found that facebook group too so yeah hope to see you guys around cheers :)

Part Number: 36531-PRB-A01? (Japanese part number# for my car, UK PN's are different)
Looks to be around $300 OEM (from Japan)
Id be interested to see what Honda AU want for it since they were double the cost of anything I priced locally and sourced overseas

Yeah Perry. The tapered hole on DC5 struts are larger than the ones on EP3 struts. DC5 tie rod ends are required when running DC5 struts. :)

pretty sure PREFERRED.
Ive fit EP3 suspension to DC5s , and vice versa....only issue is the REAR lower bush....EP3 is slightly thinner meaning if EP3 into DC5 , you can fit or use thin washer , but need to shave DC5 into EP3

Why the requirement? If its length you can always get your original ones machined down a touch which you need to do putting coilovers into an EP3 anyhow.

Ep3r is faster than audm dc5. They're exclusive (kinda). Dc5 are everywhere. They attract less police attention.

Depends what you want to do really, OEM coilovers are more than adequate for street use, after market really isn't going to generate anymore grip...unless you drive like a maniac on the street. If you're serious about getting correct tyre contact/camber for track use then you'll need after market coilovers with camber adjustable tops (and camber bolts if you like) for the fronts and camber arms for the rear.
If you just don't like the feel of the OEM coilovers (particularly the amount of body roll) and want a set of good coilovers for not too much $$$ (subjective), you can get a set of Bilstein B14s from http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/ delivered to Aus for less than $1400.
Front/Rear sway bar are a good way to reduce body roll without having to compromise ride quality by using stiffer springs, although dampers with good valving and stiffer than OEM springs probably feel less harsh than the OEM setup.
Really though, it just depends how much you want to spend and what your goals are.
I reckon ep3 look a tad high without some form of drop. If you were To mod at all, lower it.
Lowering the EP3 any further than stock height will introduce bumpsteer (or put the suspension in a position more prone to producing bump steer), and also move the roll centre to a position that's less optimal than stock. Unless you have the necessary components to counter act this effect and the knowledge to put those components to correct use, lowering would actually make the EP3 handle worse. This was just a word of advice in case you're looking to maintain on par or above handling to OEM.

RCAs could potentially correct the RC location issue, but it wouldn't correct the bumpsteer problem, you actually need a coilover with the steering arm mounted lower on the damper body. Even with the RCA you need to actually know how much it moves the arm and location of the RC, if you lower more than the RCA helps then you still have a problem, although not as bad as it would be without the RCA.

Ive got BC Racing Coilovers in my car with a 25mm drop, additional front castor and adjustable rear camber arms.
It doesnt bump steer or tram track. The 45 series tyres have enough give in them to soak up most of the bumps on the roads, infact its a softer ride than my old EG CRX on a king spring / KYB combo with 205/40-17 tyres.
Fitting the coilovers and dialling in some front camber tightened up the handling no end and got rid of the stock floatiness and nose diving under brakes. The car is 10x nicer to drive and not at all bumpy bouncy and uncomfortable.
What Im trying to say here is a higher spring rate with rebound tuned to suit your driving style along with a very modest height drop can result in a car thats great to drive with very little undesirable side effects.
Any lower than that and be prepared to kiss your mid pipe goodbye - at 45mm drop mine wanted to scrape on anything that looked even slightly raised. Even At 25mm the supermarket carpark still gets me and there are some Westfield car parks that are just a no go zone.

Isnt what just the best? Getting beached on someones driveway after you tried to creep up there on an angle at 2km an hour and then putting foot long scratches in your mid pipe?
No thanks, thats why I only have a 25mm drop now.

Nope, imo the ep3 is a better looking car. I just about my ep3 and had the option to get a fn2r but decided to go ep3

If on the fn2r is cheap cheap meaning close the 10K mark maybe for me if only it's in a few years down the track, I don't like the exterior look of the fn2r but interior I don't mind only as a daily driver though for the comfort. Given I've driven both cars track car EP3 daily FN2R.

so say if u had the chance to purchase either an ep3r or fn2r (assuming you don't already own an ep3r), would you guys go the ep3r hands down?

I assume your in a market for a ep3 or a fn2r?

actually im in the market for an s2k mainly, but they are proving almost impossible to find (not totalled/trashed/20"chromies/over-priced). and i am considering getting an ep3r, fn2r, or dc5r/s as a means of learning how to drive manual properly before i take on a RWD manual without a long history of manual experience (dont really want to end up in a pole or upside down as many have)

i would have been happy with either one, but now i have the ep3 knowing its actually faster and the looks have grown on me alot, i wouldnt change to an fn2r as an upgrade

the one major (probably the only) thing holding me back from an ep3r is the shifter position... just looks so awkward... but from what most people who own one tell me... its in pretty good position in terms of slamming through the gears so i dunno.. might just have to go drive a couple of each and compare

Shifter is fine. My previous car was an s2k and I've quickly got used to this

doosra do you regret going to the ep3r from the s2k?

Not at all. The reason I sold my s2k initially was because I needed a hard top as I was going to park the car at the station, however I found out that the fuel consumption is really good on the ep3 as well so now I drive to work. The ep3 has enough power and I've always liked the look of an ep3 and wanted something new to excite me again.

s2k and civic R's are both 2 different types of cars coming from owning a s2k and ep3.

Like I said before they are both 2 different cars each has it's good and bad points sorry I honestly can't say this is better than the other if that makes sense.

Thats flawed thinking. With some years of experience you can drive a FWD or AWD car balls out quite easily and not get into trouble - try that in a RWD car with the same HP and you are likely to end up heading up the road sideways and backwards. Ive had Hondas for over 10 years as my daily drive cars (Modified Mazda RX3 and RX7's my fun cars) and in a FWD car in the dry you can easily get away with stupid stuff like pegging it around roundabouts and corners at 60-70km while the tyres are screaming and trying to climb off the wheels, if you even attempted to do that in a RWD car you would just spin out unless you knew exactly what you were doing and had enough HP for a controlled slide/drift.
A lower powered RWD car would be a far better learning step, either that or some control of the right foot.

Just to add
Easily the easiest cars to drive are FWD based.
Very neutral and controllable and safer limits compared to awd and rwd of the same
Power to weight ratio.
Ep3 is a great car to master - Gl !

word of advice
dont do what onecoop said about 70kph corners rolling on 215/35r18 unless your Tsuchiya. in fact dont run 18s at all.

i wasnt planning on doing such acts dont worry lol

I wasnt suggesting that at all - it requires some real skill to tackle corners fast and safely and those skills you learn on the racetrack not the road.
My point was dont think that learning to drive a FWD Manual will make you a good driver of a RWD Car as they are just not forgiving, especially when the pressure is on or things go a little wrong.
