Enjoy your P.O.S projectors then
The eBay link is to HID for reflectors. These are similar to what the EP3 use, and the JDM FD2r uses these as well.
They will work just like normal HID's would in our AUDM cars since our reflectors headlights are made for a halogen light pattern, not a HID one. ^^

I have thing against anyone running HID's without projectors, they're an annoyance on the road and are done without any consideration towards other drivers.

Looking to spend around $2000 for the motor. Will do a full rebuild; port and polish, aggressive cams, bigger pistons...a full overhaul. Nothing is gonna be left out this time.
Have no idea how much I'm looking at for labour but my guess is 5k for motor out and new motor in.
Tuning and Flashpro I have covered!!

I got one from mars performance shipped from victoria which is pretty good ... I know I could have sourced it for cheaper but eh.

I was considering it, but I'm afraid of getting the alignment wrong... I'm trying to figure out where to get a good deal on a mugen rear lip..
Question: I can get the whole kit, minus the rear lip, in ABS plastic. OTR is selling the mugen rear for 280 delivered but that's PU plastic. Would there be any difference when painted on? I heard texture may be different??
Thanks.

in regards to fitting the kit. it isnt hard putting it on. you will need another person though.
body kit texture may be different but not really noticeable. personal preference, doesnt bother me.

Well I've managed to get FD2R sway bar brackets from japan so that's sorted. The problem is that they don't make FD1 RSB and only for FD2R's. So I have to change the endlinks and brackets to accompany this

hi guys, my friend is gonna get a set of Volk TE37 17x9 +15, but he doesn't know much about setting up. He has asked me to help him but I dont know either :-) Could you guy help him.
His car is a FD1, stock suspension. The things he ask me are:
1) does he need to change his suspension to coilover, or just change a spring?
2) does he need any cambet kit?
3) what tyres are for the best setting up?
Thanks all
black8thgen
14-04-2013, 05:29 PM
gonna need some flat guard rolling and lots of camber. maybe camber bolts will do... and probably a 215/45 tyre will stretch enough to clear the guards. If he can't fit them in with 215, go 205 tyre but it won't be very comfortable.
areis has run 17x9 +22 te37s without too much difficulty so hopefully he can tell u exactly how much camber he ran. But i'm pretty sure his guards were rolled completely flat when he had them on - no flaring/pulling needed.
this is the reason why he is falling in love with TE37

DuffyFD
14-04-2013, 05:41 PM
For the rear you'll need to add camber definitely. Camber sliders / camber arms necessary.
For the front you'll need camber bolts at a minimum.
I wouldn't run that size rims and not be on coilovers. You need to run coilovers to restrict the suspension travel which will be necessary with this size wheel.
You'd need 215/40-45's otherwise you can say goodbye to your sidewalls.
For example I run 17x9 +12 up front and the wheel sits outside the guard, with camber bolts on max negative camber, and my guards completely flat and slightly pulled.
Will look the goods once they fit though.

2 of my mates have the BC BR series coilovers in an s2000 and e46 BMW. I can say they are probably the best money for value coilovers. Furthermore, BC racing coils are known to be able to go very very low :) however the downside is that they claim to have 46 levels of damper adjust or whatever it is, thats just bullshit and only has about 2/3rds of what they say.

"43 clicks" is meaningless without a shock dyno to determine actual damping range. 43 clicks between rock solid and backbreaking means less than 10 clicks ranging daily comfort to track-spec-stiffness

Not quite man. not quite. Empirical evidence does not speak louder than factual research. BC has good after sale support from what I hear but that's about it...
That's like buying super cheap auto tools and having them constantly replaced under warranty vs buying a snapon set.
LOL! Ok in all honesty BC BR are decent but yeah as areis said the level of damper is BS, but they shit on megan and D2
This I can agree with. It's the lesser evil and you'll get better value for money from it

All those taiwan coils are GARBAGE no matter if they last 2 months or 12 months..how do you even know the 4 springs are correct rates?
Do you honestly believe they are that accurate...

What are you talking about? BC BR, Megan and DC2 are one of the top brand out there today. i know HEAPS of people on BC BR and they're not having problems
great info hear guise.

Anyone remember the wave of D2 and Ksport years back?
Where are they now? most is in the rubbish dump I can bet as you pretty much never see them up for sale used...
Then consider Tein Zeal Cusco etc. you can see those even from the early 90s still useable,of course most are worn out by now but the quality difference is obvious

This. D2 coils shat themselves after 10-15k of STREET driving lol.. so that says enough...
I have HSD coils in my s2k atm (previous owner's choice)... and f me its seriously like riding on rocks. softest damper feels like im in a leb-spec commy with chopped springs and 22inch rims with 2cm worth of tyre
So.. pay the money, save up the extra coin, and get some good JDM shit and be done with it. Do it once do it right!

Theres lots to be considered though for a coilover as street use
Afterall traditionally they are a racing type style and having aggressive valving on bumps, something has to give out eventually
Road use obviously has a huge range of shitty conditions, potholes, railways lines, damaged bitumens we all drive on daily
do you alter the valving to suit those condition then people complain they feel too soft and not "sporty"
or you have aggressive valving and softer spring rates....theres ALOT of variable and setups we can try so no wonder its a pandoras box trying to choose a suspension that does everything and ticks all boxes

Hey buddy I've got Buddyclub N+ coilovers on my daily FD for about 2 months and they ride a bit firmer than stock. You can go very low which obviously gets bumpier but they're still decently smooth. I reckon they're good value coilovers and recommend them. The guys over at 8thcivic seem to say the same thing too

I will say this, a lot of the lancer guys rock BC BR coilovers because its pretty much the only option for them and there is a lot of positive stuff coming from them.. At $1999 from justjap, 30 level dampening, 12 month australian warranty, the value is there. A lot of them havent really had coils before so they cant really compare. Some say that theyre great, but there are some that are less than impressed with their performance/ comfort. The BRs are rated for street use, and they have the RM inverted option for track use as well which just jap said wouldnt only last for about 5000ks on the street due to the valving etc

No problems with my Cusco zero gt's.
One thing to mention. Make sure you get top mounts for the front. Worry less about whether they're camber adjustable etc, but just don't rely on the stock ones.
The Cusco's don't come with them so I was forced to use stock ones and they have developed alot of play in them.

Unbolt the nuts and push the face out, the face comes out from the top of the barrel (you may need to apply some force). Then remount the face by putting it through from the bottom of the barrel and start re-bolting.
Right side is reversed.

but white will be more work in the long run, but will match the car better, silver is less work but may be a little bit of the clash considering you have red/white/black already.

i just have a thing for expensive JDM wheels hahaha - i'm sure you could make it work though with whatever taste you have
my suggestion (biased): get some ce28s to go with the RR kit (especially since you have the wing), or SSR Type F - anything multi-spoked really
but yeah that's just my taste go with what u like dude

It has no muffling capability whatsoever so you'll need another resonator to avoid it sounding like a swarm of bees behind you.
When shut it's stock quiet.

The Js Racing is too loud. I haven't heard one up close but I've seen them on S2000' and they all sound loud and very high pitched.
I want something with a deep note. Not too loud when cruising and loud when you full throttle
