If possible just save and buy the real thing??
oh, can u buy a fd2 is aust? how much to they go for?
Civic Sport is FD2. I used to have one. One more thing you should be wary of before purchasing these cars are that they are an EXTREMELY big f&*k to modify performance wise. The only things you can do is an exhaust with headers and intake. And it uses electrical wires to control throttle, so there isnt a throttle cable. So an engine conversion is out of the question if not extremely hard and cost you a bucket of money. This is why I sold mine. But if you wanna just do it for looks then go for it.
Useful info? Rep me.
hahahaha v8kllr, you'll get there soon. Why'd uget neg repd for anyway?
anyway, the Fd1 and Fd2 are good for daily drives, but not really performance. If this is ur mrs car, why do u want a kit and coils on it anyway? I doubt she wants to put up with an annoying low ride that scrapes everything and damages the kit.. (but that's just my opinion, you don't ahve to listen to me)
I'd say just get the VTi if u want something to roll in, and if u want more features go the sport..
Curtis is headed in the right direction. Plus the fd didnt come out as a sports car and is stronger in the field of looks imo. If you want sunroof, leather seats, better stock rims etc, then go sport but if you wanna save some cash, go vti as i dont think it has much difference performance wise and will probably save you on fuel as well.
The last tank I did was 566.5 with 2 litres left in the tank lol 100% city driving so I think economy wise either is good. I'd say if you want performance don't get an FD like v8kllr mentions they're a bizznitch to modify and short of getting a really expensive turbo kit you're better off getting something else. But if you're keen on the looks department man I love looking at FDs. They don't even need a kit to look nice just lowered on hot wheels. If you're gonna get an FD cos you like FD's get the Sport. Too many good features to miss out on if you get the Vti.
Saddest thing is inaudible VTEC.
the only things you would get a sport for is:
1. leather seats,
2. a sunroof,
3. indicators on the windows (if you like that better)
4. nicer stock rims,
5. exhaust tips ( or $80 for aftermarket ones - SRS Auto)
6. 2L engine - which doesn't make it faster, since the car is heavier than the vti - they accelerate around the same.
7. flappy paddle gearchangers if you're a retard at manual or prefer that to standard auto.
as xenon said mentioned a few above, except for 1 and 2, the rest really makes no difference or is going to be something you'd replace anyways if you're modding the car (ie. rims, exhaust)
I'd buy the sport still for some reason. 16500 is cheap for a sport, and I'd prefer leather and a sunroof ^^
ofcourse the choice is yours
i have got my FD2 Sport few month ago....
well, i had ur situation at that time too....whether go for vti or sport...
but i like the leather seat, the indicator on side mirror, 17" rims, sunroof
and personally, the engine 'looks' nicer...
(only looks nicer when u open the bonnet...i mean, the parts under the bonnet look tidy and nice when u open up the bonnet....)
i do love the leather seats, and sunroof....and that is no way i can get these in vti unless i go buying a new one and putting special request over those accessaries....
leather seats, can still be installed at a cost of around $4K, (told by Honda)
but sunroof...there is no way u can buy an aftermarket.....
BUT....now, i dont really like my FD2.....the fuel consumption is very bad.....
and....there is not much power over the engine......
very loud engine noise.........
yet....the appearance of the Sport is really nice....
ultimately, apart from the 'power' wise.....i like my FD2.......
one more thing....the reason why i buy FD2 Sport is: the enhanced safety...
i put the curtain airbag into my purchase consideration....
that's why i go for FD2
but....somehow, i would like to get a Vti too, and change the rims~~ as the fuel consumption over the FD2 is really....shxt..... :)
thx for feedback guys, i personally perfer the vti, coz leave me more coins to do mods but mrs wanted the sport, she is not getting the bodykit now i will only get a set of coilovers and 18 rims for her
As the saying goes -> happy wife... happy life
haha chichicbo, don't go telling people that - you'rs is dodgy and not an accurate representation of all civic sports
if i had to do it all over again i wouldve gotten an 07 vti
holyfk th at's better than me
coilovers and wheels is all u need lol.

thats one big ass rear view mirror
wink mirror. dam american styling so sexy
Go for the sport sunroof is great in the afternoon,
Sport also has climate control, fog lights, audio control on steering wheel and more airbags.
Sport looks great the way it is and you won't need to do anything to it.
are u refering to ur FD2 as well? not FD1?
how many kilometers have ur car done?
mine driven 65k, and the consumption has never reached 400km per tank with 98 fuel....
sigh....really dont know wht's going on with my car................80% city driving and not more than 5km per trip tho...... but it sounds ridiculous fuel consumption....
:(
then go get ur car checked chichichibo...
and if you're only doing 5km from cold starts, then remember that the car idles higher while warming up, and thus uses more petrol
chichichichchichichichibo have u even tried to fix it yet? or are you just going to sit there and complain again?
thats probably why ur consumption is so bad. 80% city driving and only short trips are gonna dramatically affect ur fuel efficiency. take longer journeys in ur car! lol make a 20min detour on the highway to wherever ur going. that will help ur fuel efficiency, even if it may take u an extra 20 mins to get to where u want to go :p
what, so 13 L/100km is normal?
I rkn it shoudl be 11 max...
2ltrs left?! crazy
update: i brought my sport coz mrs wanted it
post some pics once i done it up:)
Yeah. It happened because I forgot to pump then the next day I went to pump the petrol was uber expensive so I waited two more days LOL. I heard its bad to let your tank run that low but meh car is running smoother than ever. Btw all my calculations are based of the fact that my tank is 50L. It may be more?
^ it is a fact that the FD tanks are 50ltrs. if u were able to fill up 48L in one stop at a fuel station, then that is pretty ballsy. i get nervous driving as soon as theirs 2 lights of fuel left. lol
PS: btw, do u seriously own a GT3RS?!?! lol pics!
ok so in theory ...
buy a manual sport
swap the interior with the vti to save weight
put on light rims to save more weight
strip out the boot lining etc to save weight but dont compromise too much
they come with a K20? so why not put in type-r or type-s cams? or headswap?
clutch, flywheel, intake, headers, exhaust, coilovers
win?
Bolt on 200shot of nitrous. Win!
what are the main differences with the K20z2 and the K20z1?
isnt it usually only the head thats different - there for head swapping it to make it a type-r?
The k20z2 is a combination of k20a and k20z3. Hybrid between the two. For you k20z2 haters I can still rip dc2rs and b16s. The only let down or fds are their ghey dbw throttles
fd2 is too fat and heavy loooool, wish i had a dc5r but cant stop modding the fd LOL
ok so why arnt people lightening them and putting Z1 heads on them?
cant imagine it would be far off a AUDM Dc5-S
how much would that cost? and what engine is in an audm dc5
Audm Dc5 Type-S is a K20z1
would there be any compliance and registration issues with changing the head of the engine, since the type s dc5 stopped production in 2006?
what would changing the head of the engine do anyways? save weight? will it pull out any more power?
stig.. pics of ur evo pls!!!!
LOL - the head effects EVERYTHING - its where all the action happens for making n/a power
the Type-S has much more aggressive cams and a better flowing head - it would effectively turn your car into a 4-door JDM Dc5 Type-R
(our K20z1 has more in common with the JDM Dc5 ITR K20 and our AUDM ITR)
match that with intake, headers, exhaust and a good tune and you should have a damn nice car
if you have a heavy leather interior u may want to get some recaros and swap out the back seat for the basemodel
do a few things like this to save weight etc - light wheels - light battery
and where can we get z1 heads?
Wreckers. Costly too
wreckers, ebay, forums - keep ur eyes open n you might pick up a bargain
im sure the K20a2 head and a few others would be fine as well
I had a run with my bros s2k this morning and I was only half a car or so behind from a standstill. I think all you guys who drive fd1s and think the fd2 is a pos haven't yet driven one (properly)
the s2k is also very over glorified as well lol
the R18 and K20 in the ausdm model civics have alot of potential
as do the D16 and D15's - people just form misconceptions about them straight away
look what i have done with my D15b7.....
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthr...-s-Civic-Ferio
yeah im working on it still - i went back to college this week so time is a bit tight at the moment - and theres alot of vid to sort through lol
the z1 engine as mentioned earlier is from a dc5s. the head is the top of the engine (head & bottom)
lol - i think you should research on how an engine is built before rushing into any major changes like this lol
the head on an engine is where all the action happens, it houses the cams, the valves and the intake and exhaust ports for the cylinder
it controlls how the engine breathes
http://image.modified.com/f/28243757...ng+cutaway.jpg
as for designations ... there are different types of K20 - models made for efficiency and models made for performance
the main differences are usually in the head, intake and exhaust
for example - the K20z3 is the model found in the Civic and is more designed towards efficiency, the K20z1 is the model found in the Dc5 Integra Type-S and is designed for performance
the K20z1 has a really nice vtec setup on the exhaust cam as well (the bad thing about the Type-S though is the heavy leather interior lol)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_K_engine#K20Z1
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_K_engine#K20Z3
therefor it would be advantageous to change the head of the engine to that of a K20z1 - or if it is possible convert it to Z1 specifications
Actually the z3 is from the civic si (usdm) and is very high performing!
hrm i miss quoted - the engine in the 2006+ Civic Sport is this
Engine Location Front
Configuration In-line
Engine Size (cc) 1998
Cam DOHC with VVT
Engine Cycle 4 Stroke
Engine Type Piston
Engine Number K2OZ219####1
Engine Code K2OZ2
Cylinders 4
Valves per Cylinder 4
Compression Ratio 9.8
Power 114kW @ 6200rpm
Torque 188Nm @ 4200rpm
Induction System Aspirated
Fuel Type Petrol - Unleaded ULP
Fuel Tank Capacity (litres) 50
Fuel Delivery Multi-Point Injection
Method of Delivery Electronic Sequential
Carbon Dioxide (g/km) 187
Fuel Combined (l/100km) 7.9
Civic Sport K20z2 = 114kw
Integra Type-S K20z1 = 154kw
Integra Type-R k20a2 = 147kw
wtf the z1 puts out more power? how does that make any sense,,
the australian model Type-R got a down-tuned version of the Japanese unit
the australian model Type-S got a much more aggressive exhaust cam and exhaust system - the problem with the type-s isnt the engine - its the weight of the more luxurious interior and softer suspension
the JDM Type-R K20a puts out 160kw
oh, i understand now....
yea, i know abt the engine coding, but just dont know the abbreviation that u guys talking abt here, such as Z1 head......
i know Civic sport is K20Z2.....so, we can put the K20Z1 engine into a Civic sport??
woo, that's COOL!!!!
well you dont really need to swap the whole engine - just the heads - the bottom end would be exactly the same
i dont know what pics you have been looking at but they are exactly the same lol
the chassis on the civic encloses the engine a bit more than the Dc5
not sure on the cost - you would have to call around to see if you can find one
unfortunately all this talk about head swapping doesnt apply to the r18 =[
the R18 is a pretty cool little motor just needs work - like everything else =)
I love the R18. Been driving a H22 now and i prefer the midrange torque it has.. (i know right, a honda with torque!)
chichichichichichichibo it won't fix ur fuel efficiency woes.
(btw, they all have the K20 prefix meaning they are the same engine... and they look identical btw)
if anything make it less fuel efficient :D
upgrade for the K20Z2 engine
K&N Short ram intake
HotPipes headers
Unichip
Skunk 2 camshafts and exhaust cam gear
HKS Circle Earth
Pivot Megaraizin
already been tested/dynoed
A/T: 158whp @ 7000rpm
M/T: 170whp mark
are those the mods you've done fitme??
theres no point in the pivot raizin...our cars are new so why would you need grounding support or a voltage stabilizer....
if the car produces more power, i am fine with the fuel consumption.
the current civic sport 07 for me is so bad coz it consumes a lot of fuel but not generating a corresponding power....it consumes like 12-13L, per 100km.....
if i have to pay for such a fuel consumption, why wouldnt i drive a 3.5 toyota Aurion...
tht's why i feel so disappointed with my civic
there is clearly something wrong with your car. It's a bad egg
