Checkout the clear side indicators everyone who bought their car from IMG. :)
What's upsetting is the depreciating price on our car...
the only reason why our cars are so cheap now due to alot of importers importing them in and alot of people are selling up supply and demand gerrrr
There are so many ep3rs for sale in the market at the moment, however i hardly see any of them in the north shore, probably all located in the west lol
when they hit 15k im buying one :)
By the rate its going it will drop to that price within 2 years.
fxxk i should sell mine now and get a DC2R haha
Anyone got hints to remove centre console/ head unit surrounds ?
I want to add a aux input and need to pull the HU !
Cheers guys
snap on tools, i think my mate took the gear knob off first and unclipped the bottom half( think there was like 2 clips holding the top half of the console that connects to bottom half of the console, and possibly 1 on each side of the bottom half console plastic), then there was like 3clips on each side of the top half of the console. hope it sort of helps ben.
- Remove gear knob
- than you can take the gear boot out its held in by clips
- than you pull trim off to the head unit.
Hey guys, I have split rear exhaust hangers so I'm getting harder urethane type ones. I have sourced some (similar to the $40 each cusco ones) but for half the price. I will order these within the next week. However, it cost the same to post 1-3 sets. So if anyone here is interested, let me know via pm, cause this may save you a few bucks :)
Benny,
With the centre console, the shifter surround just pulls off. But you need to give it a good tug! I think there is two screws and the top bit pulls out too :)
Thanks a million guiz -
Just to confirm - the gearknob
surround comes off easy , but the top section ( the entire facade covering the climate control vents hu etc) unclips at the bottom
then i feel resistance and worry to pull any further. It's pretty soft plastic dam these hondas.
There should be a guide on honda-tech or so that I followed with step by step pics that you will able to follow. Can't dig up the link right now as I'm out and about.
The end result will appear like so http://yfrog.com/c8wyvj
U took out the 2 screws from the bottom then pull the whole facia upwards. There are clips all around the edge.

not a good time to sell
good time to buy
and it was the facelifted one right Ben?
FUUUUUUUUUUUU i got mine for ~27k one year ago. you guys have it good.
WOW..i paid 23k one year ago....This is nuts!
paid 27k for mine 15 months ago. sold it for 22k 3 months ago. but all cars are depreciating right now
how far back in this thread am i gonna havce to go to read on people who daily the ep3r?
i need opinions on the everyday use of it. i cant seem to find much info
are these just like every other honda to maintain?
thanks.
thanks for the info!
drive my car 24/7. Love it :) no problems what so ever. And like ben said, careful of torque steer. I use to drive with 2 hands on the steering wheel but then i decided to drive with 1 for the extra street cred. Nepolian has the ultimate street cred though
good daily car, comfortable recaros unlike the dc5 recaros.
they dont hold you in place as good when youre really giving it haha
somtimes it be like i want tighter/higher bolsters or something slightly higher than what we got.
just a normal honda really as long as you don't do any body damage. seat is comfy but sometimes i wish i have the SR3/4.
re clutch master and slave cylinders, are they EP3 specific or DC5 ones will work?
thanks
So which lucky member here bought the FL front???
you didn't buy it Perry?
lol.
yeah man most (if not all) of smaller plastic bits were brand new. i bought the type r grill etc at a Honda dealer at Osaka and EMS back here. (the grill was too big to fit in my luggage and i didn't want to risk damage it).
Quick question for ep3 veterans, has anyone already thought about installing side-mirror indicators on their ep3?
I know for a fact that in the uk they have it. So I thought it might be possible.
Reason for asking is because my ep3 doesn't come with any side-indicators :s
U r lucky they didn't drill holes on your car...
CL9 mirrors will fit but might be pricy new. U might want to try some wreckers.
oh they drilled. placed in some ugly arse side markers.
Ahh Thanks for the reply guys.
So is there a recommended place to get these fitted and do the wiring?
Phil can you clear pm inbox :)
^ Done cheers
does anyone have toda headers on their ep3?
is there much point getting the toda cat for about 600 from today or will a cheaper high flow cat work the same? say xforce
isnt our jap cat good but?
question, centre rings or hub rings has anyone gotten theirs replaced? and what size cause i had an inspection and front ones were cracked/broken and flat.. and which tyre store thanks guys.
well guys my engine mount split right through now and i get a massage from the vibrations now it's so bad...So...Mugen Mounts? Or does someone recommend something else. I Don't want them super stiff but I dont mind a little bit of stiffness.
Umm....centre hub rings?? I gather you have aftermarket rims? If so, go to wheel shop and they should have the right ones! Different wheels have different rings size!
You have 3 choices really....maybe 4.
1) Oem = Oem ride quality
2) Inserts = best in between in regards to balance of oem vs harshness. But! it won't help if you have split driver side mount.
3) Mugen = Not too sure other than a deep hole in your pocket for set of mounts which look oem?
3) Innovative/hasport etc = Great performance in every aspect, except for vibrations through the car!
Your choice, but my suggestion would be to go for a ride with someone with the above mounts if you're not too sure.
ps...If you're Toretto....go for the Innovative/Hasports!
ps...I may have something that may help you??
if u want street cred go for innovative / hasport :D
definitely street cred, did you get hasports/innovatives Steve?
Hey George, oem wheels but like when i was trying on my brothers bc p1's for fitment he noticed my ring was flat and broken told me to go change it. Do oem wheels even need it?
oem wheels dont need it cause theyre made to fit properly
Mine are at 86,000ks - clunk at speed as the engine pivots into 1st or 2nd gear. Front and or rear mounts are
Torn
Mine went around 65,000-70,000km the driver side that is and front mount is gonskis too.
how about your clutches guys? i think all that clutch starting was killing my bearing so got it disabled. going for major service in two weeks, should it just be changed?
also with the hub rings- do oem wheels need it or is it fine without them? I know aftermarket wheels need those rings not too sure about oem though.
OEM wheels don't need center hub rings.
The center bore of OEM are manufacturered to fit tight on the hub.
Aftermarket needs it because usually they have a larger center bore to allow the usage of center hub rings to fit on different brands of cars.
I think most Honda uses 56.1 for the inner diameter of center bore.
If you take off your oem wheel and measure the center bore and the hub, You will realise there is no space to be in a center hub ring anyway.
alright thanks man, probably should take off the rest of it, its probably all worn out and cracked by now.
Are you talking about the release bearing? If so, generally the clutch kit you buy should come with it such as exedy.
My mechanic told me Honda will you charge you that bearing seperately.
To sum up, when changing the clutch, a good mechanic will advise and change the release bearing, pilot bearing and rear oil seal. This will save you cost on taking out the gearbox in future.
hey guys as most of you guys know im selling my car but ive come across a problem with my front left shock, its seized up and when i turn it makes a load creeking noise, if anyone has stock shocks they wanna let go at a good price lemme no
Oh great. My first problem comes now. :(
My car has developed a squeeky noise when i steer. This occurs only while the car is in motion.
I remember reading someone along these 700 odds pages stating the fix is quite easy.
Ozhonda's thread search is a pain since I get several hundred results back and it doesn't even preview what the post is.
If i remember correctly, I needed to grease somewhere. Can someone kindly point me in the right directions?
Thanks
Real good info Nepolian! :) Does anyone on here have the hasports?
I like street cred...but I also like my spine to not be vibrated into a grey dust :P, How are the mugen mounts steve?
EG5 from Jdmyard contacted me and recommended the 'hardrace' mounts, they are a 4-Piece hard rubber set rather than the poly that Innovative and other companies use, I reckon I'll go for that :)
I have felt all after market mounts that are possible for EP3/DC5R and you will be kidding yourself if hardrace are going to reduce vibration. The EP3/DC5R engine mount design is a bit of a let down by honda. As soon as you try any sort of stiffening up you are going to feel it asap. The closest factory feel with a little more security is the mugen mounts, so dont be fooled ;)
hey Poeter its the steering rack, the rubber piece that right behind the motor theres two sides. to describe it, it looks like the rubber surrounding the gear knob and its black, you'll need new clamps once you've taken it off to grease as you cant connect the clamp again. dont search the thread search the whole sub forum there was a thread with pictures somewhere.
Was gonna diy but I'm gonna leave my mech to do it duing my service
Yeah i got my mech to do it. they're a bit hard to reach.
I know what I am about to post has been spoken off many times before. However, I like to post my contribution and wonder how other fellow ep3 owners are doing with the fuel consumption? Particularly on highways?
Fueled up a full tank on Monday and fueled up again last night.
Here's what been measured:
26.28L Mobil 98RON with trip measuring 315km since the last full tank. Did the calculation and it works out to be 8.34L/100km
I drive this to and back from work. Journey primarily consist from Ashfield area to Bella Vista during peak hour times. M4 is about 35% of the journey and Old Windsor Rd for about 50% of the journey. M4 in the morning is reasonably clear but going home at night is slow - 50km average with start-stop traffic. Occasional VTEC are to be seen on the way back home but not so much on the way to work as I'm not as alert in the early morning.
I think from factory dc5r AUDM is specified to consume 9.5L/100 or so for combined city/highway driving. So for my EP3 to achieve 8.3 to 8.4 is quite good in my opinion.
So I'm curious to find out if anyone else out there are achieving better results?
i think i posted the pic up of the steering rack of wat to pull and greese up, i was gonna write up a diy but since then i formated my laptop so ill try and find a pic of wat to do
That will be great Thanks :)
Rep points for you
its all about what u want out of ur car at the end of the day. If u want something nice and comfortable i recommend the mugen mounts. Im running them and they are just slightly stiffer then oem but if u drive ur car hard no doubt they will fail. If u want something more hardcore and you drive ur car hard go for the stiffer mounts. This will improve shifting, decrease wheel hopping and also help save u from header damage. Down fall is that u will get alot of vibration inside ur car.
so 1 is for comfortable daily driving + spirited driving,
other is for tracking, street cred, hectic, rip seconds shifting, rev engine and drop clutch...................... so on and so on................. o wait for it ! ............. HOONING ! !
