been looking into shock sensored alarms, i found a guy in QLD that does home jobs. got quoted $450.
you found "a guy" lol. what kind of system is it?
I don't know about you guys but I've been using the same cheap alarm system for my last 7 cars and they've served me well. I don't know if I'll get it for this car...see how I go after the engine seap
Will a 5 speed k24 gearbox work?... Or one from base model dc5??
U should probably do a full conversion with the k20a gearbox as well
Btw how old is the motor ur getting? Won't there be some legal issues if u place an older engine into a newer chasis?

Do you want my coilovers? :P
lol xenon, naked wing
chan, i've seen u at carousel and curtin lol.
Hey Chan, looking good..quick question, what is "Aoex'i AFC-NEO *Tuned for AFR*"?? Is that an ECU re-map of any sort?
Does anyone do a ECU Flash for the FD2 K20Z? Woudln't mind getting mine done..i am seriously thinking about a couple of mods..needs to be dropped slightly lower (may just do springs not coilovers, Mugen colour coded grill and cat back (want to keep twin pipes though)
xenon need a mugen lips and lower that thing!
AFC-NEO is used for tuning the air fuel ratio of the car :) It's just sort of a piggyback. Gave me about 15hp more atw :) Haven't tried connecting and tuning Vtec with it yet.. So far we've only fiddled with the air fuel ratio and the results were astonishing *15hp for a 2.0 N/A car*. How much were you thinking to spend for springs? Cause my coils were only on the car for about 2-3 weeks and they retail for 1800.. I'll be parting with it for about 1400.. Depends how much you want to spend :)
Yeah I'm thinking about a lip kit but I like not scraping anything with the standard height...needs to be practical as I drive heaps
Nope. None so ever! I think it was caused due to V-Tec being connected to it.. hence I did not hook up V-Tec to it.. yet :P Just connected the AFR and there was no issues :) I will try to work with my mechanic/tuner to connect the V-Tec when we have the time.. and see if there's any issues
for the afc, would it work on a fd1 and be any benefit knowing that the r18a engine doesnt have the standard vtec that the k or b series have
Once I get the k20 I'm gonna look into a Hondata or haltech engine management and possibly a vafc
not sure about the k20a but the afc or vafc apparently causes the CEL to come on in the k20z of fd2 as well as the euro
So far it's fine on my fd2.. probably cause I never connected the Vtec to it :) Cause I read somewhere that the CEL came on because of connecting it to Vtec. The main purpose of the AFC-NEO is for the AFR anyways :P It would be great if Vtec could be connected, but wouldn't make TOO much of a difference.. maybe an additional 2-3hp only
Chan...how lean are you running now? Notice any significant changes to fuel economy?
pretty sure hondata hasn't madde anything for the AUDM R18 yet... cos nobody cares about it
^ the FD1 is all show no go sadly. Imagine the potential if it had a k20
lol the civic is a family car, not a sports car. even the fd2 "sport" is still a family car... that hasnt stopped previous generation civics becoming performance cars, but this 8th gen is a heavy whale and it takes a lot of money to see it compete with genuine sport cars.
These days car manufacturers do their best to maximize economy gains and minimise emissions. The local civic targets this market. Whilst us enthusiast try our hardest to increase performance...
Why oh why couldn't we get the civic si?
The world would be in harmony.
oh yeah, true.
I meant an fg2 civic si with a k20z3!
hey guys, planning to get some coils for my fd and was wondering what brands u guys recommend. it'll just be for street use (obviously with an fd1 lol) and budget is around 1.5k.
cheers!
tanabe - take a look at jdmconcept =]
^ careful chan, not sure if you can sell stuff as a newcomer!
I've had hit and misses with BC Racing coilovers, haven't tried them on the FD Civic so I can't make a statement about them
ive got d2 coils. had them for about a year now and there's been no problems. they're not great if u were to track or race, but for street use they do well. bc, tanabe, skunk2 pro s, j's racing and ksport are probably ur other options for coils at around $1.5k. they're all probably the same. i've heard that d2 and ksport come out from the same factory?? they're all good if all ur not gonna track ur car.
Just a note to why i gave STD a shot.
Most coils, when you lower the car, the spring does not have 100% movement. However with the STD coils, even if you lower the car, the springs still remain with 100% movement.
appreciate the advice guys!
@aero: how the ride comfort on d2's?
what do you guys think will be best suited for me if i was after a decent ride comfort (as my car is a daily) and noticeable improvement to the handling of the car? Or as aero stated, will most brands be pretty much the same since its just for street use?
Got a set if cusco zero gts here for sale, was using it in daily situations, adjusted the dampers close to stock and still noticed a reduction in body roll, aslo can adjust rude height without affecting spring rates
ride comfort is fine man. i use my car every day. havnt gotten any complaints from my gf (who is usually the only passenger) or other people that have been in my car. also, the profile of ur tyres also affect the comfort. although the ride isnt bad with my 17s or when i had my 18s on 40 profile, it is way more comfortable on the stock fd1 steelies and tyres.
I've had D2's on my fd when i had it awhile back, perfectly fine for daily or track. Went to the track quite abit and it held well. Just need a fat rear sway bar and it'll do well with them
if you want comfort get koni shocks or similar
i'd never buy coilovers for comfort
no complaints from the gf sounds great as my gf is usually the only passenger also lol. i think ill sacrifice a little comfort for the fd1 steelies, they look terrible. where would i be able to get a set of d2's anyway? anywhere local selling them? or will i save some money buying overseas?
they're pretty hard to source them anywhere now.. they all, if not most dealers have cleared out all their stock about a year ago. im pretty sure ksport coils are near idetical to d2's anyway and there a few people that sell and distribute them to australia from the states. i think they're about $1.4k delivered to ur door.
AU currency is killing it! time to import more parts
thanks everyone for your help, really appreciate it. time to shop around.
cusco rear sway bar, am i wasting my money? worth buying?
my head unit is up for sale guys
any offers?
without fascia tho aero
If you want coilovers get the BC Racing ones, D2's i think are discontinued.
hey dude, apart from ebay do you know where ill be able to source the bc coils from?
Looking to upgrade my front and rear speakers (fronts with tweeters). Will there be much difference vs stock speakers as it requires a hi-lo converter vs RCA inputs. The aftermarket headunit has a "Built in 50W x 4 Channel High-Power MOSFET Amplifier" so i will not be installing amps or subs.
Is it worth the upgrade to aftermarket speakers? Or not much point as i am not installing amps? I read somewhere that installing aftermarket speakers allows me to customize the audio from the HU better than using the stock with hi-lo converters.
This is for my Civic FD2 06
Any info is appreciated.
thanks
so uve got aftermarket hu already?
okay...here it is...
upgrading speakers without hu or amp = pointless it will give better quality by say 5-10% but lest volume by around 20%
upgrading HU without upgrading speakers = basic but it will give better quality and volume
adding amp = weak hu (whats the point?)
Gonna carbon wrap my bonnet...hehehehe
^ i was planning the same since the actual is $$ and a defect sadly
why is it a defect? its just carbon wrap, not carbon fiber, so its fine
hey mate, where do u get ur speakers from ? I wanna upgrade my speakers too.
shimian if you wanna hock off your oem speakers to me for cheap ill take them when you upgrade :)
