Will it add more street cred Steve?
Hey guys how will you know clutch is getting worn out? Think too many clutch starts killed my thrust bearing that's for sure so had the clutch starter disabled.
Rep point right there! It squeaked afew times but that's about it.
I encountered my first episode of that dredded vibration noise when driving in heavy rain last night... I'm glad I read about it briefly a few mths before I purchased the car... Or else I be scratching my head trying to figure out what the heck it was!!!
I did a bit of light reading last night, couldn't really find any posts with a solution to the problem other than bending the heat shield on the exhaust or adding extrators.
does ur car sound like a tractor, v8, a big deep drone noise ?? I use to have this problem when i had my stock header butted up to my aftermarket cat back. Read that alot of owners of dc5r and s had the same problem and when they changed their header the problem went away. Later on down the track i finally upgraded my header and i havent once had the problem arise.
yep, a tractor like noise/v8... & a sudden loss of power... thanks for the info, very handy!
*note to self: don't drive in heavy rain
The squeaks can come from 2 parts. The clutch release bearing and/or the fork pivot. My mechanic told me it ain't a serious problem.
My mech reduced a bit of squeak noises by greasing up the fork pivot (But tight to reach given there isn't much room to get to the clutch slave cylinder.)
I had similar squeaks with my Jazz.
a v8 ahaha thats what mine sounded like when it went into limp mode after i washed my car and got a wet filter...
Hi guys, will the Energy bushing kit for Civic Si fit on our cars??
yeah a very shocking experience everytime haha. im glad im not the only one here experiencing this
Hehe it can sometimes sound like ur engine gonna blow yeah ? Haha funny thing is everytime I drove in the rain I had passengers n dam it was embarrassing >_<
lol its just water hitting the exhaust right?
Is EP3's front suspension bolt 14mm or 16mm?? I am interested in getting some camber botls, just not very sure about the size.
No worries man.
Well the accelerator pedal is a straight bolt on, just take out the old whole accelerator pedal assembly and replace it, pretty much straight bolt in. .
The clutch and the brake pedals, it is very difficult to take out the clutch and brake assembly as the bolts are hard to reach so you must take out the rubber pedals and replace it with the dc5r pedals. So in this case you have to take out the rivets on the dc5r pedals which is abit of a pain but yeah its the only way.
The deadrest pedal is a straight bolt on.
and i got my pedals for around 130 from memory, which included the rest pedal.
cheers
Thanks heaps TanitY!!
Rep pts up!!
Just 2 more questions, is that price for brand new pedals from Honda or second hand wreckers?
and finally, might be a hard one, do you have the part numbers of the items you purchased?
speaking of pedals...
will the mugen pedal set fit our EP3's ?
link http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthr...arts-*JDMyard*
No worries mate,
The price that i bought it at was second hand, and was only in decent condition. (had some scratches and stuff). Brand new would cost around 350 according to jdmconcept.http://www.jdmconcept.com.au/index.p...vid=36&cid=389 and most likely even more if you buy it from the honda dealers (probably over 400 lol)
However i have found a place where it sells it relatively cheap brand new. really good site for honda parts from the usa. and with the record high strength of the aussie dollar this is the best option. $226 brand neww
http://www.icbmotorsport.com/jdmindc5tyrp2.html
Or if you dont mind second hand you can find these pedals like i did for around 150.
Sorry mate i dont have the part number for these pedals.
Hope it helps anyways.
cheeers
well from memory the accel pedal you cant remove the plastic cover on the pedal so if youre going to install the mugen pedal youre probably going to need to screw the mugen pedal ontop of the old plastic pedal, and youll probably have a extra thick accelerator pedal if you know what i mean. lol.
i could prob cut it off seeing as though my clutch and brake pedals have the plastic cover removed except for the accel pedal. having bare metal pedals is annoying especially in the rain when its slippery haha
LOL. As much as I like anime and love EP3 but this is nuts.
Otaku + EP3R =

mugen dc5r pedal set from memory is the same as ep3 and im currently using them. Kit comes with clutch, brake, accelerator. But as tranity said the accelerator is a pain in the ass. U need a flat head screw driver and u need to pry the top part of the plastic cover open so u can slide it off the accelerator pedal
oh no, i feel sorry for that ep3
maybe a cute japanese girl does drive it man would be win!
yeah she nice and hot but then when she smiles its GG.
its a let down for beautiful women... should hit up koorea im sure everythings in perfect proportions +teeth =)
hahah you guys crack me up.
I was searching around for the exact spec of the EP3R K20A engine. I was specifically looking for the redline, rev limiter and vtec engagement. But after searching a bit, sources conflicted with each other. I think some people assumed the JDM DC5R has exactly that same spec as the EP3R but it actually isn't.
According to wiki these are the specs
2001-2005 JDM Honda Civic Type-R (EP3)
- 1,998 cc (1.998 L; 121.9 cu in), 215 PS (158 kW; 212 hp) @8000, 200 N·m (150 lb·ft) @7000:
2001-2007 JDM Honda Integra Type-R (DC5)
1,998 cc (1.998 L; 121.9 cu in), 220 PS (160 kW; 220 hp) @8000, 206 N·m (152 lb·ft) @7000:
Wiki also had another table

I tried to match up the specs of the DC5R and EP3R engine to find the redline, rev limiter and vtec engagement of the two.
So can someone just confirm whats the redline, rev limiter and vtec engagement of an EP3R.
i'll tell you now rev limiter is around 5-6 when stationary but Steve will give you the exact value cause im not a hoon king. vtec is like 6200rpm +- , redline 7.8+(this one im just guessing cars too far)
a jap spec dc5r >ep3 but ive seen so many videos of the total opposite occuring =) plus it was more expensive than a ep3 on best motoring.
can the ecu's be reflashed M@lew?
anyone know this guy with this EP3R?
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...ode%20matchany
converted to FL front headlights
if you guys have the time, if you could check your boots under the spare tyre and see if theres a puddle of water.
much appreciated!
did a quick search but couldn't find a definitive answer. which plugs suit the ep3r?
can I use a ngk iridium: BKR7EIX
or do I need the ones with a 1.1 gapping: BKR7EIX-11
I was also recommended to get the ZFR6FIX-11
I have a spare set of the BKR7EIX (with standard gapping) its not listed on the box or the ngk site, i'll have to measure it and check. Just seeing if I can use them or should I just buy some new ones with the correct gapping?
ngk iridiums thats what i would choose
if only i didnt buy my ep3 9months ago and bought one now =( with fl headlights and soo many mods.
question: i bought some jap headlight polish used it acouple of times but i can see like stained marks and it feels rough on the surface of the cover, how do i remove the crust layer on my headlight?
Eu3 headlights are like silver/chrome while our ep headlights are smoked that's the only difference looks better at night :)
dam..... just spend 3 hours giving the outside of the car a good clean. Washed twice, waxed, applied a new coat of rainex on the windscreen, polished my headlights aswell as my visors and now the weather report is saying its raining 2moro.
FAIL ! !
I was planning on washing my car tonight but I guess I'll hold off till the weekend.
that yellow crusty look is that what ur talking about ?? what i use is this product called plastic x. I put it on a applicator pad and just keep rubbing. Sometimes i rub for 5 minutes or so till all that yellow crust and yucky fade look gets polished out, then i get a microfibre towel and buff it. And then its shinny for a week or 2 untill the sun destroys it again :(
well i got my finger and scratched at it and now its scratched =( so fail
Scratch X cuts a little deeper than Swirl/PlastX. I use that on my headlights then wax it, they have been pretty good ever since (~1 year)
Steve n johno, where did you guys get the rain guards for the windows from?
Looked at autobarn and the ones there don't seem to fit.
Any good places you guys rec?
sorry man autobarn is for fully sick sex spec items =P didnt your ep3 come with visors?
Autobarn is good for ordinary stuff. I'd say about 50% of EP's came with visor. Yes, mine did ;)
Anyone in Sydney with a oem ep3 muffler want to swap with my spoon n1 axle back ( plus cash adjustment) ?
Loud n raw in vtec !
You can buy it if you find me a oem or similar muffler :-)
Btw I spent a few hours stripping all old alarm/ stereo wiring from the previous owner. Took out seats and carpet , also took out all sound deadening because I can. 15kgs less ( firewall matting and under seats) should get me some rep rofl.
