yeah i have the same problem too...and the HIDs appear to be already on their limit...so my beam length has shortened slightly..:(
just have to add more weight in the boot (e.g. sound system?) lol

yeah, after suspension city installed my tein's, they said that my rear wheels will be on a negative camber, in my opinion, it looks pretty cool, kind of like i'm running on a camber kit on a certain degree haha, but when driving on the freeway i noticed the alignment was pretty off! so pretty dangerous! they said to me drive 100-200km's so the springs settle in and then book in for alignment.
oh and HAPPY 100 Page Anniversary CU2 Modders.
thanks andrew!
haha yeah, so true, feels like those springs were made for the car haha! love riding low!
and definately a great milestone, congratulations everyone!
now that my car's lowered, i look at stocky CU2's and measure their side mirrors with mine to see how low my car actually is, and their reaction when they see the space between my tyres and the fenders compared to theirs is hilarious, not boasting or anything, but the feeling is great when i see another CU2.
Guilty as charged, me 3 LOL...Happy 100th page milestone everyone :). Seeing I'm on holidays now I can start doing stuff to my car!! Woooo!! First step...removing the resonator (hopefully this weekend) :P...See how that goes then onto organising my mugen kit :)...
I'm also considering getting the Mugen Replica Grill off Paul now, what do you guys think?? I'll probably won't be getting rims for my CU2...too far of a stretch, especially when I want to upgrade in a few years time :P
Cheers!
Tony
hmm at replica grill, i'm thinking of getting the REAL mugen grill just for the Mugen emblem haha!
i'll hopefully remove my resonator by end of this week too :D
as for rims, getting these as a christmas present off the parents!
Oh nice! Rims aren't bad lookin' :P...I was thinking of going for some Wedsports coz my mate had it on his FD2 (before he wrote it off lol). They were really nice looking BBS replicas! I wish my parents showered with me such nice presents :P
As for the grill - I can't find the grill on JDM concept (unless I'm blind lol). Tried eBay too, couldn't find it! I was just planning to get a replica mugen grill + the mugen badge/emblem :3
haha, nah, parent's promised me a christmas present since last year, so they decided to make up for it for buying rims for me LOL, not lucky haha.
I LOVE BBS Rims, so JDM *drools. and for you to find a rare cheap replica of em is freaken lucky as!
here's the grill:
http://www.jdmconcept.com.au/jdm-image/product526.png
it's under the bodykits section of JDM Concept
hey, good choice on these rims!! i was looking at the same rims a while back, reminds me a bit of the AMG feel. Have you checked for size? cos last time i called up the supplier for these.. he did not have any 19' in stock and never got back to me to let me order them.. hope you have better luck!! great x.mas pressie.
this was my other choice.. a bit on the wild side, quite popular in JP
Oh cheers! Yeh I remember I've seen it on their site...$540 for just the grill is a bit of a stretch though haha (I'm trying to save as much as I can :P)...See what happens neway.
As for the BBS replicas, they were still 2.2k shipped from HK :S Not tooo bad but still pretty exxy for replicas if you ask me :P
yeah those are abit on the wildside arn't they?
not really into the multispokes style though, I LOVE MY 5 spoke whereas the girlfriend loves "split spokes", so i thought i get abit of both 5 spokes that are split haha!
havent checked for sizes yet, heading to the tyrefactory tomorrow for a quick quote on 19's, see how i go. :D
yeah i remember someone on this thread saying it is a tad of a stretch for a piece of plastic haha,
PWOAH! 2.2k for replicas, that is pretty exxy, imagine genuine! ah well, can't wait to see them Tony :D
My CU2 has got a new bumper....

Does anyone know if the OEM Modulo rear bar will fit with stock mounting or some modifications has to be done to get it fitted to the car?
and if they come with sensor holes pre-drilled?
reversed into a short metal rod jutting out of the kerb today and scratched my bar...Time for a modulo bar instead! :D
As far as I know they should fit with the stock mounting, coz it's just a cu2 bumper with a "modified" look :P. Not too sure though. As for the sensor holes -> probably best to ask the dealer to throw it in and drill it in for you coz I've heard getting the drill bit for the sensors isn't cheap.
I'm also planning to replace my rear bar/get it fully repaired...haven't been bothered going back to the guy who touched it up (and did an extremely poor job). How much was your quote for a modulo bar? I don't mind getting that instead of the Mugen rear (as they're quite similar I think)
yea...might need to get them to drill the holes..coz they should have the template in hand to do a perfect line instead of me trying to get a proper position by guessing! HAHA
got quoted $817 + 10% GST for the bar...painted as well. i think it can be a DIY install.. :D
dont know if they will take the old bar as trade in!
AHHAAH...damn man! freaking scratch costs me alot today ! grrrrr....thats the disadvantage for being anal with a perfect paint! :(
its actually not that bad but i will be having nightmares if its not fixed
as for comparison with Mugen lip kit, i think the modulo looks fatter...and it blends really well witht he Mugen front bar... (NOT THE LIP KIT)
the front bar will be next purchase...prolly in a few dinasour years time :(
Hahaha!! yeah mate I know that exact same feeling, it was worse for me coz all 3 incidents were hit and runs...damn dodgy car parks...I'm also a bit anal when it comes to perfection, I was spewin' for a few days after the first one...then again for the next 2 damages lol >_<
$817 isn't too bad! Trading in the old bar wouldn't be a bad idea, I'll ask my dealer too if I do end up going with the modulo bar :P. I reckon it will look good with the Mugen lip front (the one in my avatar pic), as it's a bit more aggressive looking than the front bar.
I really like how the Mugen bar has that horizontal "wing" piece across the bottom of the bar...
and the corners are jutting out a little making it look square'ish...and the Modulo has the same thing as well making them a match made in heaven..
i think Sanyuh has similar set up... Modulo rear, Mugen Front
Oh my effin god! THat looks so hot!
can u give me the ebay link for the the hood scoop
also, where did u get the red Honda badge? been looking for one that fits
How much did the rims cost you? where are u sourcing ur stuff from? and what springs are u using to lower ur car?
in Otherrrrr news. my mugen+type S lip kit finally arrived (bout fkn time!)
i need to find a place to install it and paint it. Anybody know anywhere in sydney that does it for cheaaaapppp? i dont really care about paint matching cause i actually reckon different shades wud make it stand out, since my car is grey. My mechanic friend kinda bailed on me last minute
*edit*
actually reading back a few pages, i noticed u guys talking about springs. Which ones do you guys reccommend and which are the cheapest? I dont get what the deal is with the camber business? why is a wheel realignment neccessary? sounds troublesome, i thought springs were a simple business.
sanyah: I would also like to know where you're sourcing from (if you don't mind :P).
About friggin time fury! Geez, it's been what? 3 months+??
As for the springs: there has been a range of different types of springs that have been used by fellow CU2 drivers. Here are the price comparisons for the 4 brands that are most common for CU2s (ordered by price via eBay):
TEIN: $320.31 USD - about $334.43 AUD (inc. Express Shipping)
Eibach: $332.30USD - about $346.95AUD (inc. Priority Shipping - whatever that is)
SKUNK2: $341.99USD - about $357.06AUD (inc. Standard Shipping)
H&R: $396.05USD - about $413.50AUD (inc. Priority Shipping )
Note: Please correct me if I'm wrong!
I'm not exactly sure what the difference in the brands are though, haven't read into springs that much myself. Hope this helps!
very informative Kwang, thanks!
does anyone know what are the difference in measurement of the actual drops with these springs?
I remember seeing it somewhere in this thread before, but can;t find it now.
still getting over how nice that full Mugen Kit was on the blue CU
so tein and eibach are they the same drop?
what was the issue u guys had with springs which required wheel realignment?
and SANYUH REPPLYYYYYYYYYY, i want to get those hood scoops
Also, I remembered that Sanyuh had the mugen grill originally didnt you? if u got the mugen front bumper, ud have to take off the mugen grill...which means its lying around somewhere not being put to good use right? or have i confused it with someone else :P
fury:
my experience is with Eibach pro-kit, once the car is lowered, likely due to the set up and geometry of the suspension, the rear wheels ended up with a negative camber and with a slight in-toeing. The front wheels also had a minor in-toeing issue, but i think that was probably from the driving beforehand :)
hard for me to explain what the actual difference are, maybe try google.. hehe
i think the negative camber is not too bad as most race cars have that set up for better grip especially during cornering. However, your tyres will wear out much quicker on the inside and will not last as long.
Intoeing, from what I was told, is a disaster, as that will really make the car unsteady and damage the tyres, so worthwhile aligning your wheels again after running in those newly installed springs.
once i had the car aligned after the springs were in, the car definitely drive much smoother.
guys, please correct me if there is something wrong in what i said.
Mugen Wing is here:
http://www.jdmconcept.com.au/jdm-image/product662.png
with that price range, it would only be on my ride in my dreams :(
Oh god how did I miss that...and blardy oath that's not cheap is it!!! D:...if it was a couple hundred it might've let it slide but $1.4k?!
No worries mate.
Cheers for the info -> so you're running Eibach springs?...Does anyone know the exact differences between the 4 sets of springs? It'll be awesome if someone does a comparison! :P
+1 to that! i too would like a comparison
And i swear i remember seeing the mugen wing for around $500, no idea where 1.4k came from
Lemonhead, how much does realignment usually cost? if i understood you correctly, you need realignment because the wheels essentially sit at an angle because the springs lower the car at the back thus pushing downwards on the inside. so from behind you car looks like this:
/---\ instead of |---|
is that correct? (yes the vertical lines are the wheels and the dashes are the bottom lip of ur car)
and by 0 camber, do you mean the front wheels had no issue?
either way, i need to have my bloody kit installed first to see if i need to lower it.
No body has any idea of where i can find cheap kit install+paint in sydney?
regardless of alignment or not, the rear camber will can not be adjusted back to 0 degrees UNLESS you purchase a camber kit to correct the camber. there's just not enough allowance from the stock set up for us to bring the camber back to 0.
Thats the issue im having at the moment as well. but 2.5 degrees is still not too bad if ou dont drive 300kms a day everyday. Whats actually really killing the tyres is the toe in/toe out of the wheel. :)
hope this helps
yes, why didn't i think of using symbols...
yes a negative camber in the real wheels is like you diagram, looking from behind the car /----\
in-toeing of the rear is also like the diagram but looking from above the car /----\
the front wheels had little changes , sounds like yungquan had similar findings with his car
got a 4 wheel alignment for $65 at Bob Jane, took a bit longer than usual due to new springs.. they said.
but make you you don;t rush off to align the wheels too quickly after installation of the new springs, as the springs need time to settle in, maybe around 100-200km? at least, and yes during that time the wheels are not going to be wearing so good, but well, cannot get the best of both worlds.
YES.. i would love to see a compariosn btw the different springs too, liek to knwo what the difference in drops are.
for Eibach Pro-Kit springs, the listed drop is 1.6inch front and 1.4inch rear
Hey guys, hope you dont minde a cl9 guy posting :P. My car is lowered, and also has a negative camber in the real wheels, front is fine. I remember I took it once to pedders to ask them bout a camber kit, they said from memory around 1200-1400$ for the kit.
I then figured, well if the tyres did wear out quicker, by not installing the kit at least I could buy a new set of tyres with the money I save. That was my logic anyway. So far done 10,000km on the new tyres I put in, gonna rotate them and see how they are. On a weekly basis I only drive around on avg 50 or so km (damn u cbd parking). Cheers
TONY! i'd thought i'd give a good friend a hand so here's a little comparison between TEIN, EIBACH and H&R i put together.
Hope it helps for everyone.
Note: I'm not sure if H&R is accurate, gotta have to ask mr. Nesterjester haha.

:D
Aww mate thanks heaps ay. I would rep you but I already did a while ago haha...they won't let me do it again! :P Anyways so the difference is just the drop height ay...I don't know if I want to get them, after hearing all about the camber kit n stuff...sounds like such a hassle and lots of $$...:P...sigh I wish money grew on trees :(
euroRwannabe -
champ, thanks
haha no worries Gavin, happy to help.
*sigh, i wish money grew on trees too!
with my springs, after getting them installed i also faced the negative camber issue on the rear wheels, they said get it alligned after 200k's of driving on the fresh new springs so they can settle in and it should run smooth again once it's all aligned. i still haven't booked in an alignment yet! and i've done over 600K's of driving! my friends however like the look of the negative camber degree on the rear wheels! haha!
Does anyone have a picture of this -2.5 chamber? By the way, do we need to do wheel alignment if we change to slightly bigger tyre diameter?

Thank you yungquan :-)
The shipping will escalate that price man for sure! i always get excited with the prices and then only to be put down by a hefty shipping cost :(
and yes, the lesser the drop, the lesser negative camber u get. This is due to the nature of a double-A-arm (MacPherson Strut) setup of our suspension.
Here's a bit more information which explains the camber issue with lowering for our car setup
H&R springs are generally on the stiffer side right? (stiffer than Eibach)
can u give me the ebay link for the the hood scoop

also, where did u get the red Honda badge? been looking for one that fits

Hey Sanyu, do you have this negative chamber issue with your suspension?
can anyone teach me how to use photobucket??[IMG]http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/...1/IMG_0960.jpg[/IMG]
edit: wuahaha got it!
OFF TOPIC: this is for albii, tony, and andrew. hehehhe
http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/...1/IMG_1202.jpg
crappy iphone camera, also its not washed, sorry albii =.=''
You're overlapping the "[IMG]" tags Tony :P Neways...fark that's nice!...lovin' the plate too...geez 2 cars, 2 prestige plates...HIGH ROLLER! :P
p.s. I've always had a thing for rexes...beasty things they are...
You should see his euro's plate -> IM L8 ... XD
eurowannabe, sorry ive only mentioned the subaru on the euro cruise some time back to albii, tony and andrew hehe sorry**
tony, just learning how to post pics, so do i backspace the 'IMG' or do i just post the link without having to click on 'insert image'.
also, :D , a couple in a golf gti was parked next to me, they started reversing and then i looked back, hehe they were taking picture of the euro :P
Just post the link since it's got the [IMG] tags on it already. Or you can insert image and just paste in "http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g400/mr_late1/IMG_1202.jpg" without the image tags, photobucket should have the option to copy the just the direct link to the image.
Haha I c I c...btw I swear I've seen another rex with the plates "DEJA VU" - with the space around southside...this was a while ago though haha
ARGHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH @*&%@*%&*!!!!
i just got a call from my mechanic. My body kit doesnt fit!!!!!!!!! he says its completely screwed up. The skirts dont fit properly and block the back doors from opening, the front lip doesnt fit cause the curvature is wrong where it wraps the sides. Ohhh man $$$ and months down the drain waiting on this bloody thing to arrive and it doesnt fit. They even took it to a panel beater who said they cant reshape it.
FML, totally fuming at work right now. Its not like i can contact the supplier in china for a refund. I have absolutely no idea why it doesnt fit cause its essentially the same kit from bodykitskingdom.
when i get home i will have 4 useless pieces of plastic and my dad's smug grin telling me "i told you so"
