cant wait for the pricing
I cant wait to see what options there are.
Woke up hoping HONDA.AU website would be changed..... nope :(
Same here, except I was up till midnight hoping I could catch it then :p I went to my Honda dealer yesterday hoping the new Jazz's would be hiding some ware out back unfortunately not. I did however managed to take home one of Honda's advertising packages for the new Jazz.
It really is marketed towards women I think or highly feminine men because the pack contains Garnier body tonic and wipes, awsome little Jazz lollies and the product flyer.
I totally don't understand why they need to directly market towards women. Women love the Jazz already, and I would hazard a guess that most of the Jazz buyers are women. 10 of my friends who owns a Jazz 8 of them are girls.
I think for those guys that genuinely wanted the new Jazz may be put off from their new marketing direction. Honda fans would understand that the Jazz is a nice car, so when they see a male driving the new Jazz they wouldn't think they're "homo" but as tv ads, magazine ads appear in the marketplace with all girly connotations and imagery, those other "motor enthusiasts" who see males driving the new Jazz would think they are pansies!
I'm man enough to drive a pansie car! :)
Got a test drive organised tomorrow dude... I'll let you know how I go. Think Marlys is going to do it through novated lease with another half dozen birds at her work who are also after one...
so not sure about going together for a bit of a deal.
OK, guys, what am I missing? There is so much info on this forum and common people (non-dealers) that have seen the car. Well, not in SA.
I spoken to a Nordic Honda dealer in Adelaide and he told me that they may have the new Jazz in the showroom on 18 Aug, but no test drives until 29 Aug. Formula Honda (also SA) claims no cars in the showroom until 29 Aug. No pricing, no prospects.
Please share your experiences from interstate.

lol the jazz is a chicks car for sure!
I saw a truck with 2 new Jazz's on it drive past today on it's way to VonBibra Southport.
The Jazz is a car for those who don't like spending over $80 for a tank of fuel. Cost me $90 to fill the Euro and $43 to fill the Jazz with roughly the same amount of km's per tank. That's every week so Jazz = huge savings for me and will pay for itself in 5 years assuming 20% rise per year in petrol :)
The preview magazine thing on Honda.com.au sure is aimed at women. Don't they want guys to buy the new Jazz?
Mark
http://www.hondajazz.com.au/ ?
dude they should be at your local dealer NOW (i was sitting in one 5mins ago as i'm stuck at work)
the pricing has been released too but i don't have the details in front of me
and imho the new blue is nice, it suits the car much more than vivid blue
Personally i do think the design of the new Jazz is bit feminine, but so was the older jazz, depends on if your masculine enough to pull it off =P
LOOOOOOOOOL yes when they are working they're fine, not amazing but fine.
however they are the most unreliable transmission put into any honda for the last 10yrs, the last trans to be this bad was the CVT on the HRV
i believe honda was scrapped the jazz cvt for 2 reasons
- the aust market in general doesnt understand how a cvt works and are so accustomed to regular autos it just feels weird to them
- as stated above honda has spents thousands of dollars repairing and replacing cvts, whereas most of their standard autos are very good.
on an interesing note honda is apparently keeping the cvt for the japanese market which i find quite odd as all the other markets are 5AT
as a guy that has driven both cars i much prefer the new one. it's a bit more modern looking and less grandma/girlfriend spec
Yes, very true. Looking at the other forums here for the Civic, CRV etc, no one complains about transmission problems. So I guess it will be better to save face..
Yeah, this was very interesting. I think the JAP drivers are much better. They have a lot more 'mechanical sympathy' than us western drivers!
got a call from dealer few days ago, and told me new VTIS auto is roughly costs 25k on road and man one 23k. and i maybe take a closer look and have testdrive later, but i don't think is good idea to buy it when it just release, not much room to bargain as it is very very new to be introduce.
Just got home from driving a VTIS manual.
Initial impression from outside..... its a very good looking little car. In fact... I think it brought the bitch out in me.. I thought it was very cute :p
Initial impression from inside..... great layout, seat fabric is not too shabby, visibility is outstanding. Top glovebox lid was a bit naff (satin metal paint look). It could be just me not really having spent time in the GD... but I feel the cars narrowness, not saying its cramped, far from it with that headroom and the extended A pillar felt quite airy... just had more of a feeling that the door trim was right on my elbow/shoulder compared with other small cars, and I am far from being a big guy. Speaking of doors though.... they did close with a satisfying thunk much to my surprise.... sure its not the same thunk as a car from VW/Audi group but great for something in this class. Also.. with rear seats in their normal upright position, the boot is very deep.... and and there was a full sized alloy as a spare under that boot trim too
Initial driving impression..... engine tone a bit corse (thought it would be a bit more subdued). There is no denying its a honda engine.... the thing starts to come alive bit over 4k rpm. 1st gear seemed useless, with 2nd gear being the cog that the car starts to seem more willing to accelerate nicely. Acceleration is what is to be expected in this segment, and overtaking is gonna need some well judged driving. On the highway it is quite posied, two big rigs came in the opposite direction (no centre divider on this hwy, just painted line) and car drifted a bit over with the airpressure however this was about on par with what I have experienced with a current generation Corolla which is at a guess another 200kg heavier.
As for handling, the car is VERY surefooted. Was quite nice through a few roundabouts and bends where the advisory speed was disreguarded (no I did not go over the actual indicated limit :)). While the body roll is there and you really feel the height of the car as a result as it starts to lean more, was not once concerned at a possible roll over.
The suspension feels quite firm and as such.... bumps are transfered into the cabin a fair bit together with increase in road noise and overall harshness over even slightly imperfect blacktop. I think in this respect I am being a bit too critical of this car, and need to remember that it IS an econobox at the end of the day, so a silky smooth/cloud like drive will never be acheived. I guess they could have softened the suspension up a bit to dull the sensation of the car being shook around over shithouse roads, but almost certainly at the expense of the sharp/crisp steering response.
Powersteering took a little to get used to in slow city driving, but felt good at highway speeds.
Things I am gutted about not having available; HIDs & climate control.
Overall its a great little car..... now the ball is in the lady of the house's court if she would like to have it in the garage. :) From my perspective I say yes... especially shopping in this price/car segment range, I think it would be quite hard to beat.
hi
I was down at my local dealer in Melbourne this morning and took a GLI manual for a drive.
Was quite happy with the car.
The engine seems to have noticeably more power and also a deeper sound.
The car generally is better soundproofed I think, although I only got it up to about 85kmh on the Nepean Highway.
I am not sure about the interior though.
The steering wheel feels better and less plastic and cheap than the wheel on the old model GLI, but some of the other interior parts look and feel a bit cheap i think. Not sure I like the layout of the dash controls that much, and the feel of the fan and heat controls is a little odd.
Also, the "map holders" in the doors at the front are very thin and deformable. Certainly not a good idea to put too much weight in there, as they will break easily.
Having said that, visibility is great, and drive is fine.
I was a little disappointed that there is no stability/traction control at all in the Jazz range. I think this puts it at a disadvantage to some of its competitors such as the mazda 2.
I did some quick negotiating and I am pretty sure that the car can be had for low 18's (GLI SP, manual + mats)
I think I will go back later in the week and order one.
Jo
SPEEDCORE, which dealer u visited? and could u mind share the possible price for vtis man via PM to me? coz i may do the test drive next week, see how's going, thx
As a guy you're probably more likely to be teased and jerked at driving a Yaris than the new Jazz ;)
Yaris', imo, are way tooo aimed at the female species.
No price yet... was not even really allowed to drive it till sometime next week according to what a couple of the sales people told me Honda HQ had instructed. Also they seemed to have misplaced the pricing and options list so I was not able to check out what was available in that respect. I personally think they had just taken delivery of these cars and were not really ready to sell, but were happy to show people the new Jazz on the down low.
I may need to reconsider getting the Jazz if that is the case. :)
i don't see how anybody could buy a yaris after sitting in one. it's the cheapest ugliest interior i've ever seen.
hahah Speedcore, you've mellowed out in your "old" age...hehe
thanks for the review....I think I have given the new Jazz the flick..I might consider the CR-V instead. I can't get over how girly this new Jazz is...(unless I can get my hands on the Mugen bodykit)
anyone know if these are built in thailand like the fds and the new accord?
use the search tool its been asked
most hondas come out of tailand now with the exception of a couple
I went and saw this in the dealership today, the upspec'd one with mags etc (I was there picking up my Euro Luxury) and have to say it looks like a pretty cool car!!!
it cant be that girlie can it? does any spec of the GE comes with leather seats?
VSA is standard in the Japaneese Domestic Market for Japanese-manufactured Fits.. Asian-market (and other world markets) only get the non-VSA model like ours :(
RIP CVT.. like '95331140' said, in my opinion it was a great transmission offering me 3 different modes for my different moods.. the reasoning behind the AUS-spec models having no CVT is (As correctly stated) the aussie market just cant understand how the CVT works and ARE quite often put off by the way it works. JDM market though gets the new 'i-Shift' technology however I havnt looked into it as yet.
I'd expect VSA, wing-mirror indicaters, Cruise control and the LED tail lights to feature on the facelift model in a couple of years :D
hi :), i have done abit of searching... but can anyone precisely tell me the differences between a VTi and a Vti-s... i know the bumpers are different, and vti-s comes with sideskirt, cruise control, side and curtain air bag, 16" alloy, ... what else am i missing??
also can anyone show me a pic of the rear of vti.. coz i have seen a lot of pic of the vti-s rear bumper but never can find one for the vti.. does it look fugly or soemthing? LOL HAHA
ur on the money jazzle, diff bumpers and chrome exhaust tip, cruise, black interiour instead of blue/black, airbags and alloys, thats about all (and of course 1.5 vs gli 1.3)
the rear bumper of the vti is identical to the gli, only the vti-s sports the differnt one.
dont forget paddle shift for the auto VTI-S
thanx for the clear up guys :)
so is the steering wheel on the vti leather-trimmed??
yes indeed

hi, just took the testdrive for VTI man this afternoon. What i feel is quite impressive as small car to drive. Downside is lack of some features which other nations can provide, such as VSA, climate control, sunroof. But I will get one in near furture if i can get the right price.
Picked up my vti today! Now needs some wheels and a kit.
Congratulation, what rim u wanna get? 16" or 17"? show us some pic when ur kit on!
prob just go wif 16s. 17 too big. ...thinking g games 57 maximum. in the gunmetal blue or if i can source a set of the black ones. having trouble attaching pics to the link..adjusted size already and still cant post!!
do u try flickr.com, i always use it for posting the pic here
it doesn't work for me.
i can see the pic now, can't wait to see ur new ride with mugen kit later
the new site is up finally =D
http://jazz.honda.com.au/
that cobalt blue is looking gun
ya, I saw this colour of jazz today in real life, it looks great
Under the About the Car > Exterior section, it says that foglights are standard on VTI-S. Is this a typo? It doesn't say so in the spec sheets.
i think foglight only just a option for new jazz
They want $500.00 for fog lights fitted to my VTI-S :thumbdwn:i am going to get aftermarket ones and fit them myself :) save $$$$$
Getting our ride delivered on Wednesday ;).
Cheers
Michael
oh, very nice, what colour u getting? would u mind pm me what price u paid ur ride totally, coz i am in the market atm, thanks
Colour is Tabbeta White , they were pretty though on the price did not want to negotiate paid $26,500 its no bargain but i couldnt be bothered waiting for the next shipment :)
We also decided to keep our 05 Vivid blue pearl VTI-S and pass it down to one off our sons ;) so we have 2 Jazzes in the household  doing my bit to minimize carbon emmisions .lol lol .
I say this tounge in cheek as my rotary RX8 and my sons RX7 are the opposite total fuel bandits .
Cheers
Michael
woo, what a good jazz's family!
ya power is up by about 7kw to 88kw in the vti/s and 73 in the gli
if ur after any more info just go into ur local dealer and ask for a brochure
nice car spoon_civ how much is the price for a new kit?.
im getting a new jazz
can any 1 post up their quoatted price? before i got ripped off by dealers?
GLi??
VTI??
VTI-S??
Some how the small car class is hard to define.. my hearts goes to mazda2 rather than jazz.. since it had the DSC and jazz is none and more pricey than mazda2. well other was yaris but doesnt look appealing for me LOL!!
suggestion?
Thanks :D
nice jazz u have, mate. i don't understand how come Thai local market's new jazz got so much extra features than ours which also made by Thai, why why why
Fit1500_GD3 Did you import your's from japan? I'm sure the thai market jazz's didn't come out in yellow.
nice pics civ! got a question, i am not good with AVs... but is it possible to change the Headunit on the new jazz?!
i think is possible, just like new civic did, once japan honda's jazz parts avaliable, u can change the headunit part to GPS unit part, then u can chane 2din aftermaret player or 1 din player.
yeah u can change it. Just need to buy the jap double din face, cos the aus spec radio is the is whole bit in the middle of the dash. Wont be able to use your buttons on the steering wheel though after u change it.
that's the biggest sun/moon roof i've ever seen Fit1500_GD3, is that stock? the sunroof ofcourse.
Yeah thats an option overseas that we dont get.......
yeah, moonroof and climate control! big misses for honda australia
don't forget the indicator light on the side mirror as well
how much nicer is the front bar/foggies on this US model!

Why the interior is different to the JDM Fit RS as named Vti-S here? :(
the Jazz's interior here looks ... sh*t
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/Dorafy/Fit.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/Dorafy/AuJazz.jpg
cos losing all that stuff probably cuts down the cost of the car.
plus, do we ever expect to get all the jdm goodness? dammit.
i reckon u should be able to source the jdm ones then wire them up. no need to wait for facelift - which would be at least 2 years away.
