Does anyone happen to need/want an FD2R oem primary O2?
I painted the rims white my self. I didnt do a clear coat which i should have, the finish has some texture which makes it hard to clean. Its painted with 3$ paint from bunnings. and i used some left over white engine paint from autobarn, but that costs 15-20$ a can. I used around one can per rim.
When i sprayed the rims blue i did 2 heavy coats of clear and the finish is really smooth all round, dirt just wipes clean
And about the bumper, on first glance it looked like the same colour as the car lol
hey guys owned the fd1 for about 3 months now. Some of mods so far include double din touch screen, sub, Cold air intake, Varex muffler (which sounds VERY QUITE OPEN), mugen window visors, rear visors, reverse camera and got some new rims yesterday Enkei Bortex 17x8 235/45 slightly scrubs when i turn hard, Can you guys suggest what to do next? i don't really want to remove the resonator but some one said thats pretty much the only thing you can do to get a better sound, does anybody have a video of theirs? Or if i do a straight pipe would that be quite expensive? currently got mugen grill but its unpainted.

I reckon a body kit :3
I've said this so man times lol Wheen someone asks me for exhaust advice.
You have the same Varex as mine. You dont necessarily have to remove the resonator/s
You can change it to a highflow muffler if you rally dont want it loud. Unsilenced B-Pipes are cheap these days
I know a guy that does it for $90 fitted for a 2". But hes in Melbourne. Im sure prices wouldnt be too much of a difference around Australia.
But if you're scared of being too loud and what not. Dont be.. Thats the advantage of having a Varex. You can open and close it.
And honestly.. FDs sounds nice without resonators. I love my exhaust. @DAN, @NeedVtec & @NedKerry can vouch for me aswell.
They have heard my car up close and personal and they like it.
This was when I had 1 Resonator removed. I have all removed now. Sounds the same but alot louder.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBe7OZIRECg
I like your wheels :)
For 'better' sound, listen to a few exhausts so you know what you want. 'Better' for me is a more throaty sound but not that much louder than stock. 'Better' for a couple of my mates is just having it louder.
On top of removing the resonator, you could either straight pipe it, get bigger pipes (I think it's 2 inch stock so go up another 0.25 inch) and leaving the resonator.
I'm going for bigger pipes and muffler, and a less quiet resonator ~$650.
Since you have a Varex, removing your resonator shouldn't be much of a problem. Just adjust the butterfly valve accordingly.
Modulo kit oots. :)
You can probs find a few at the wrecking yard and do a respray to whatever colour you need. :P

Red gonna be done cause mate doing on his fd
Oh wow nice! Cheers! haha gonna get that paint. good bond? LOL what about primer? Your white engine paint from autobarn matches the bunnings paint's color?
Which clear coat did you use?
I am still confused of which paint to buy
Haha yeah my car is purple, which is kinda....gay but I'm used to it now. Decided to save 3k and not gonna do a respray job
Purple
not sure yet lolmclol not sure
subaru blue or dc5 type S blue...
but yea waiting on my mate so yea no rush :)
something with pearls :3
Anyone have a pair of side skirts and rear RR that you want to get rid of?
Go candy or pearls if you want to be unique LOL or maybe yellow? LOL
I didnt use a primer which i should have. The bond was good cause i sanded the wheels done prior. I only had the white on for like a month lol so not sure how good the paint is. If you look on my intro thread link the stock wheels were sprayed white with engine paint from autobarn. The evos where done with the bunnings paint and no clear. I wanted the matte look but its hard to keep clean. Doing heavy clear coats makes it easier to wash cause its a smooth finish. I am pretty noob at painting so maybe if you sand down, get a good primer, sand the primer with a high grit and then paint with no clear it might be a smooth finish, not sure.
Watch the Video of my FD with 1 resonator removed so you have an idea of what it sounds like.

@Honda_FD: i have a few question:
1) how low is your car at the moment, any difficulties for daily driving with that height?
2) what spec are your wheels now?
3) with your wheels spec at the moment do you have any issues with scrubbing, hitting your guards?
4) are you on natural camber?
5) do you have to do any fender jobs?
and one more thing: if you have any photos that i can see it would be helpful. thanks a lot :-)
Bao lol!
Similar but yeah,
Lolmclol I get ya what you mean dw my man <3
Aw yeeeee <3
@IOU
1) how low is your car at the moment, any difficulties for daily driving with that height?
At the moment. My lowest point is about 50mm (5cm) off the ground. Not 100% sure as I hav no proper way to measure it
But definitely under the legal limit.
The main problem I have driving at this height is that my frame/chassis always hits the ground on bumps. Especially the front K Frame.
FDs has a really low frame for some reason. Speedhumps are the worst. Always have to slow down and hold up traffic.
But you will get used to it and you'll learn how to avoid them. Your reflexes improves alot and you judgement will be better.
I rarely hit the ground now that I have gotten useed to the car. I literally know every potholes and big Bumps/Dips on the road.
and which road I can take and which road to avoid.
Also, The Axleback pipe for the muffler will touch the Lower Control Arm if I have someone in the rear seat. No passenger is ok though.
2) what spec are your wheels now?
F: 17x8.5+30 - 215/40
R:17x9.5+38 - 215/45
Planning on getting something similar size but lower offset
Getting an alignment soon to adjust my front camber. Thinking about going -1 degrees.
Gives little more clearance when turning and when the car leans it will allow me to get extra grip
I need to improve the cars handling to keep up with DAN on our "Cruise" down the mountain
3) with your wheels spec at the moment do you have any issues with scrubbing, hitting your guards?
My front guards have bent itself giving me a little extra clearance but looks ugly lol
Nothing Major in the rear unless you plan on doing heavy cornering or have people in the back seat.
This was before I got my guards rolled. No problems at all now that they are rolled.
4) are you on natural camber?
Natural at the moment. Planning on getting Camber arms as I want to get wider wheels
5) do you have to do any fender jobs?
Recently got Athid to Roll/Lip my guards. Did an awesome job. Highly recommended!
Lipped Guards looks awesome aswell.
But even before I got it rolled, car was still drive able. No major scrubbing or anything.
Having 215/45 on a 9.5" rim is quite aggressive. But I like it.
You should come Derrimut carwash someday when you're free.
DAN and I go every now and then when theres something going on. It'll be good to meet you
What type of pictures do you want?

18x8 18x9 rolled and plastic pulled off. bumper tab and fuel cell thing cut. natural camber. i have zero issues with the height of the car (apart from it being 4x4) canberra roads are smoth as baby jesus's bum.
edit - i thought it was a general question to everyone... not just honda_FD whoops. carry on.
i was in sydney a few weeks ago. if you have a lowered car as a daily... you are defo 'bout that lyfe'
Front tyre so flat cuzzy!!! LOL
That's why I decided to stay with stock height LOL seen this 4dr civic GLI got defected for 1" drop or something at Canley Heights. Nek minut saw a tow truck coming for it LOL idk what happened but seem expensive
When's the next mountain run m8
Usually impromptu and shit, got a # or fb or anything? Ill msg you the next time we head out. Usually george, steven (black hk s2000) and a few others come along
Haven't run in a while though, need to take care of my alignment and get better tyres before i can keep up with the others. Positive camber sucks balls lol
even if you have to take your car off road everyday ya car should still be dumped on its guts. low is a life lifestyle or some shit??
Depends what I need to do. Mechanical Work I go to my friend Dai in Brabrook. He has a garage called C Tune.
Suspension work I go to Tyre Power North Melbourne.
Also, Depends how much you want to lower your car. If you want it slammed like mine then definitely need Camber arms.
Just a mild drop to get rid of the wheel gap then I dont think you will need it.
You can lower any side you want as long as you have adjustable Coilovers or bags. If you are doing springs then I recommend all 4 at once.
But as if lower front only. You like heads down ass up?
I forgot to mention before. I had to just the plastic liner covering the fuel line.
And got my bumper tabs relocated.
Thanks Threesix for reminding me
@LetsDuDiss Front tyres are 215/40 on an 8.5" were as of my rears are 215/45. So rears have more profile. Not much difference with 45 and 40 but in person theres a noticeable difference. It looks flat but my tyres are always at 36-38psi. I check it once a week when I fill up petrol. Make sure that shit doesnt come off when driving lol. The struggles with stretched tyres
- On a side note. Have you guys read this article?
Maybe we can drive the New Civic Turbo legally?

Ahahah kidding man I'm on bags so I can adjust ;)
oh ****. Thats hectic. Where did you get it?

Air suspension, increase at front, then the back and see-saw off the speed hump (-;
To answer both your qns,
Got them off previous owners on this forum.
Areis aka 00-fft (bags)and forgot who my mate bought the Js lip off
So I picked up a set of coils last night. Neomax R, any tips for installing coils in our civics?
http://i.imgur.com/jBlOCib.jpg
I thought you didnt want a SRI because of the throttle lag?
But no I dont. Ask that Danny guy if hes parting out. He has a Takeda SRI if i remember right
HKS - Too soft for my liking. Didnt go low enough because the design of those coilovers are different.
So they dont go as low as coilovers made now days. Those were street coilovers designed for a mild drop and spring rates were 4:4
NeoMax - They were actually really good coilovers. But once again. They dont go as low as I would like.
I asked OTR for coilovers designed to go really low and the recommended me these NeoMax.
I asked if they go as low as BC because I originally asked for BC and they said Yes. Got them installed and it didnt go low.
I told them I wanted a refund or get store credit and get BC Coilovers and they said No. Made me spend $1,300 on coilovers
THEY recommended and they screwed me over.
BC BR - Honestly. I love these coilovers. Nothing wrong with them. They do get a bit noisy from time to time but having the radio on.
You wont hear a thing. Best coilovers I got out of the three. Wish I got them first and save all that time and headache.
But, Got to learn somehow. Which is why I do my best to help everyone here and get their build right the first time.
"Do it once. Do it right"
Do you have a picture with them maxed out? Been looking for pictures of how low they can go but havent found anything. How much did otr charge to install? I dont have any tools, i asked a friend if he can help but he is getting married soon and he might be busy these next couple of weeks and i want to install them asap
Would it still be alot lower than my current springs?
http://i.imgur.com/004qkI7.png
Yup Yup
The front will definitely go lower. Keep in mind that our CV Boot is very close to our suspension. Mine popped and spat grease everywhere.
Rears, If i remember right it will go down to 1 finger gap on 17" wheels. There are ways to make it go down alot lower but you may sacrifice comfort and being able to have passengers in the back lol
Most of everything I did with my car, I did it twice and consumed huge amount of time. Spray my spoiler last night, fking clear coat went hazy. I got mad and scrubbed it too hard with 1200g sand paper, fking base coat layer peeled off. Ended up getting body filler and fill up the space. And i had to spray base over clear because I had no choice. Now it looks dodgy as fk. I hope my rim paint job will be better this weekend. Sigh. DIY is tough for every first timer yo LOL!
Just bought my Type R Front. Will be selling my Mugen RR Front soon. More info and pics will be up in a few days.
If you're going to DIY coils in the FD, be careful when taking off the wipers for the fronts. Friend stuck a screwdriver in to remove it because he was having trouble and cracked his windshield lol. All you need to do it pull them off
Careful of ripping off the CV boot as well. Friend did that, spent 8 hours putting it back on lol. Should be straight forward if you know what youre doing though
