i believe, with the trip computer, the light is 'ON', once the computer estimates that you only have 70km or less to go. the light will be turned on when the 'distance to empty' hits 70.Quote:

That is very unlikely to happen unless you are at the track with semi slick tyres and stiff suspension. For normal driving without breaking speed limits and driving safely, you wouldn't generate enough side-Gs to starve the fuel pump under an almost empty tank.Quote:

so unscrew it, cut off 1/4 to 1/2 an inch from the bottom of it and screw it back on. that way in the locked position, it will probably be flush with the trim
not the answer i was looking for, but great idea. i'm a bit scared of cutting, just say the thread is too short for it to screw back in. but if it was long enough it would be sweet, has anyone tried this before?Quote:

I've read of peeps in the US using 2002 VW Passat (or Golf) lock knobs. Or you can cut and shorten the existing ones. http://tsx.acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1358
Just wondering is the Euro knob same as the Accord knobs? If same maybe I will try to source for some....
what about euro-r knobs are they different (imagining brushed aluminium w/ black rubber finger grips)
They are the same...Quote:

Just read that the VW knobs are slimmer than the Euro's knob. So keep that in mind.
you must have long arms (like an orangutan :p ) or be quiet shortwith your seat all the way forward :p . i'm & tall lanky so the door knob lock gets me right on the knobby bit of my elbow i'm boney too :) . anywayz i called volkspower their getting back to me with a price in the afternoon. (also checking dealer used cars for passats hehehe)Quote:

my solution to having the door lock knob in my elbow was...
Not put my arm there :)
lol nice idea Pumped :) its cheaper and easier to do that i guess!
aaronng is this how you sit? :D
I imagine your steering wheel must be quite far back.

This guy sits slouching! And his elbows are not bent enough LOLQuote:

well volkspower only have them in black plastic, they say the aluminum locking knobs are an aftermarket accessory. so then i googled passat locking knobs again (not in images only) then found a place in the uk that sell them for $19.95 pounds plus postage and thats for a pair!!. Also i found a place in qld sell them for $12 each. honda sell oem ones for $6.30 each which means i'm getting the hacksaw out :D But... i'm going to try an make them myself out of aluminum and maybe use a black rubber O ring or two for looks.
now i need a 4m tap going to bunnings after work btw i cut it, i'll post pics when finished.
what year is the car? My 06 doesnt do it when on "ALWAYS ON". It only works when on the variable setting.Quote:

There is a fuel cut off switch under the dash below the steering wheel, near the steering column.
The Cabin have a tempreture sensor at the dash, near the signal stalk area.
Any points for me?? [:D]
do you have the workshop manual or something? :P
It's all in the manual...Quote:

I reckon about 95% of the stuff in this thread is in the manual, but still its much more fun reading it all here.
Oh, and according to the manual, Cruise Control works above 40km/h only.
I see now. When you said "Always on", I didnt know you refering to the Intermittent setting when its turned all the way up. Thought you were refering to the next wiper stick level down, "Constant".
Anyway, yeh most of its in the manual. lol @ the Fuel cutoff Switch under the dash, had no idea that was there.
I need a pic of that switch. I've poked my head under the dash but I can't find it.Quote:

Basically its somewhere under the dash above the brake pedal. The button is top-down so you need to jam your hand under there and push down. You should be able to see two wires hanging below going into the connector/assembly of the switch.
I saw it on some document, should be the manual... will check once I got my car.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y258/tron07/temp.jpg
Anyone find the switch yet??
And regarding the temp sensor, it should be on the wiper side at the dash board, the signal side I mention earlier I think is more meant for LHD cars. There should be a small "hole with grill" at the dash area.
lol.... just notice that the driver's seat got lumbar support after then 1k service
My dealer showed me the lumber support, I turned the handle and went 'okaaay something is jabbing me in the back, I wont be using that feature' lol =/
I dont know how the lumbar support is going to make me feel more comfortable also.....
when standing (or sitting) normally a well conditioned back should indent in the small of your back. the lumbas support ass support there so you dont slouch in the seat. because when you do that, you get a sore back, and potential back problems. some people dont like it, its your car and your back :P
i been through the post, i must admit i checked everything out i could lol,
one thing i didnt know about was when u wash your windscreen, two jet rise and squirt your front lights!, dealer didnt tell me about that one
 :) "and to think i just thought those bumps in the front bar were for aerodynamics" :p
i washed my car for the first time, and when i went over them i thought, these are pretty loose, so i pulled them up and found the jets, then i founf it in the manual, and got the wife to squirt the windscreen and sure enough they went up and squirted the lights, lol
yup as well as auto levelling
and you'll notice that it's not cut straight, as the right hand side light is lowered further to try to avoid blinding those nasty drivers on the road :]
The Euro have a decent distance too for the HIDs, which makes them comfortable for long dark road trips at night on the open country roads :]
lol i thought it was just alittle off, was thinking about getting the dealer to adjust it at my 1k service, lol i feel like such a NooB
i remember a while back someone saying that if something (such as a person's arm) gets stuck in the window whilst u're putting it up, that the window will stop??? is this true...???
because a few months ago when i told my passengers about that, we decided to try it out....
the window only stopped because i stopped it as they were screaming in pain...:D
lol @ cornflakes, thats funny
i think its only the drivers window?
do euros come with rev limiter similar to launch control?
If your 2007 Euro has dew accumulated on the roof after spending the night outdoors......dont open your window when you drive...YOU WILL DROWN FROM THE DELUGE when you brake for the first time. TAKE AN UMBRELLA OR RAINCOAT!
FFS who didnt rain test this car???? There is almost no guttering on the roof to chanel the water elsewhere..it just pours in the open window.
Solution: Dont open window.
:p even worse with the sunroof
Means dont use sun roof or open the window if it wet or just rain...
I absentmindedly put my Euro key through a wash cycle. Considering how much a replacement key cost, I was pleased when the remote still work even after it was churned for about 1.5 hr in a front loader.
When I took the key apart: the electronics are dry and completely encased within a plastic enclosure with gasket seal. I am glad Honda thought of that.
^ hahaha that's awesome!
Hey everyone found out something interesting about euro's with HID lights.
Police car stickers reflect from a great distance......and you can see the laser beam from the speed gun they use to detect your speed, only at night mind you.
The police car was parked about 500m roughly saw the reflection, slowed down, then, to my amazement saw the green beam he or she was pointing at the cars that where approaching.
It was green this beam and was very accurate, watched the beam move from car to car. Amazing
Anyone else see experience this ?
I love my lights, lol
I would suggest that it wasn't your lights -- light won't show up light. I imagine it probably would have been a bit misty -- you need particles in the air (mist, smoke, dust) to show the laser beam. It's why nightclubs use smoke machines -- so the lights make interesting effects.
^ Agreed. Laser beams is just concentrated light, and HID is just light as well. To see the beam, you need particles (fog/mist/etc..) to collide with the photons (light).
Recently I left a map reading light on and didn't drive the car for a week. The car wouldn't start when I next got into it and the battery was completely flat. Once the NRMA gave it a hit and got the car running we noticed that the map light was on and this had flattened the battery.
I discover that the wiper in the intermitten mode, it wipes when you let go the handbrakes.... not only the brake but the handbrakes too
haha you know whats my favourite part about the euro, that centre consol part that you press the door and it goes up, my ex put a honda badge on his lookd pretty cool.
http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...ord-euro-5.jpg
but what i like about it, is that its actually quite magical!!
my friend had his pet rat with him and i put the rat in that consol part and shut the door, but when i pressed the door to open again, the rat was gone!!!!!
lmfao it wa the funniest thing ever!!! my ex was losing it at me haha but i couldnt stop laughing!! we tried pulling apart the foot well panel to reach up and pull the rat out but couldnt reach so after almost giving up hope i decided there was only one way to get him back out.
the same way he dissapeard, lol i closed the lil door again and waited a second or two and re-opened it and there was the rat!!! lmfao :D
as long as the rat didn't chew any cables.... you should be fine :P
has anybody tried this:
euro-R cluster
On the Driver's seat (It's on my std Euro , don't know if it is on the luxury) , there is a little lever mounted on the left hand side. I have no idea on what exactly that it does, tried it a couple of times- it's probably to dish out more support for your back ?!!
Have you guys tried it ?
It changes the back of the seat, pushes out further when turned
More back support i guess
its on the luxury to :)
I hardly use that little lever anyway , the seat is already supportive as is :)
Its the lumbar support, and std euro have it too.
When my Euro was sold to me they harped on about the boot security...
- No Keylock on the boot
- The release for the split fold rear seats was in the boot, and not the cabin
- The boot release next to the drivers seat has a key lock...
- The key remote had a separate button for the boot release..
So... When we went to busselton (country town 2.5 hrs south of perth) on the weekend, my girlfriend accidently locked the keys in the boot. Which i thought was going to be a major problem... as i had the boot release leaver in the locked position as i had some expensive gear in there...
I got the RAC down there, who when i explained the situation also thought he was going to have a tough time with it also, and asked if i had the car manual in the car, so he could see how he could possibly access the boot with minimal destruction as possible..
After he got access to the cabin, he went into the bonnet to disconnect the fuse for the horn (as the horn sounds when the alarm is activated), i went to get the manual from the back seat, but found the door was locked... i went around to the drivers side to unlock the door using the central locking button on the drivers arm rest... then it finally twigged.. this also unlocks the boot.
So no damage to the car was necessary... however it poses the question...
If Honda thought about the boot security that hard (to have a key lock on the boot release lever and have no ability to access the boot from the cabin...etc why would they include an 'unlock boot' feature in the central locking button?
(not that im complaining as it made it easier to get the keys, but the other features become redundant.)
Even if they didnt allow for it to be opened like that; The lever which is locked down with a key next to the drivers seat is extremely easy to break, It'd be as easy as lifting the plastic trim and turning the base of the unit with your fingers so if someones really wanting to get into the boot its not to difficult.
i rolled into the servo the other day with 1Km left on my distance until empty on the screen. When i filled up the bowser got to 58 litres and clicked out. So i still had approx 7 litres in the tank when it said i had 1 Km left...interesting.
Just thought i'd share
all cars are made to be very conservative when they show distance to empty, im dont think theres any real regs for it but imaine the up roar if you ran out of petrol and your trip comp still said you had k's left.
