wow.. im fanging my car.. to work and to home.. and im gettin 450 with fuel light coming on.. sumthing wrong wif ur car den
Printable View
Just drove to work this morn, heavy rain and bad bad traffic 24 km journey took me 54 mins, yesterday same journey took 26 minutes.
Fuel economy today 8.2/100. Yesterday 5.90/100
This will definitely reduce my tank average.
its really hard shifting the car at 2.5k rpm. i think ill go check the tyre press because im on 215/40/R17's doing about 430'ish 96 EK1
last tank in my b16a was 9.3 L/100km. fuxored oxygen sensor doesnt help. I have just ordered a new one so it will be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes.
yeah well the above trip consumption is more the exception than the rule, i should have just taken the bus! lol
ay alexx how much your oxy sensor cost ya
hey just filled my car up just then, did 330kms... the needle was like on the red line. and no fuel light though :\
however when i filled up i could only get 35 litres in? how many litres is in the civic tank?
lol...
35L for 330kms is pretty bad man, thats 10.6L/100, lol very very bad
civic tank is 45L
yeah i know its bad but i don't know why... like i said, the previous owner installed a vafc and tuned it to 100kw atw lookin at the dyno print outs, would that affect fuel consumption so much so that its doin 10.6/100?
but still limbo, 10.6 is very bad
sounds like the tune is rong i reckon, running extremely rich
just remember short trips kills fuel economy, i did a short trip to the shops 2.8 kms and got a dismal 8.7l/100 and that was when the car was warm as well (did a 20 km journey before this trip),
most times i use my other bomb for short trips.
Hey what are other FN2R drivers getting? Im struggling to make 500 kms from a tank. My average is usually around 8-9 ltr per 100. Always using vortex 98, mind you I do like the VTEC...............
About 510kms in my EG3.
average
500kms+Heavy footing now and then - EK4 B16A not even good condition motor either...
currently rebuilding...
EJ8 Coupe with tunned B16a2 450km per tank 45ltrs with thrashing. driving it like a baba(GRANDMA) 550kms.
im getting about 430 or so now ive boosted my b18 :( but its worth it :p
Highway driving 7.5l/100km K24EK with bolt-ons.
MINE D15B4~around 20L 300km~mine is Auto~Heaps pretty good~
dude, i reckon you should change your engine, change it to a fuel injection or something mans, it doesnt cost as much..
i usually can go 500kms+ full tank, with my EG vti
700 on my gli eg hatch
I feel pain for you guys with lower then 500,
i got an eg civic sedan 94, 1.5 - gives me 590km per 40l tank. or 6.7/100km
Just bought my 99EK hatch last weekend from Sydney, put full tank & drive back to Canberra, only run 430km this tank and even with 280km highway drive.not happy!!
new exhaust, 2.25" and intake (diy CAI and k&n) on my 92 si i'm into the 600's after a ecu reset.
that's pretty sad, my ek4 did 650km to and from Canberra when it was stock on about 40ltr.
Boosted i managed to do 550km so not to bad still on 38ltr.
How much fuel are you counting per tank?
Only way to really count is top up tank full. Drive it till you get close to empty, then refill and see how much fuel you've lost.
The level is never 100% accurate as a measure
i hit 728 out of a tank in my old Si (d16a8) - which is about 5l/100km.
Highway cycle.
i later hit about the same (700ish) out of about the same amount of fuel (36 litres) out of the same car with a b18c7 engine.
1.8 vs 1.6 , 1.8 sitting on about 3800rpm constant and the 1.6 sitting on about 3000.
Off boost or high cam , most cars should get decent numbers on teh highwway.
2.8????????
wtffff
400-450 on a 45 lt tank
driving the car to 8800 all day
do the math - a full tank of 98 octane , on a eg hatch is about 35-36 litres right ? I filled 35 in (first click) , got to coffs harbour and half back again then to wakefield and back. 2 tanks both with 700. No lies here.
Off highcam , consistant revs on the hwy should give decent results as above.
cool.
And ill keep driving to coffs and back 3 times a year and getting around 700 a tank.
Whats so unbelievable about it- these are the figures hwy cycle.
If I used to 530km+ city driving in my old EG GLi hatch, I don't see why it's not possible for you to get a few hundred more on the highway.
I wonder if this thread has broken a new record on most posts in one thread lol
43 litres i got 640km so 6.7L/100km mainly highway 120km/h at ~3200rpm
655km 44ltr's 6.72L/100kms 110kh 3100
cia forced
cia plumbed to my front bar air dam ~ forced fed cia ftw seriously i did this and 2.25@ catback and got and extra 30+ kms from my tank plus a heavier foot. exhaust sounds too good not too tear it out into the red. really comes onto song 5500-7000
I do about 350 - 370 kms while driving around suburban areas in my ek4. I feel that's a bit less. What do you guys think?
im getting the same jay_freaker.
but only because the fuel tank got replaced with a smaller one as it cracked. tho i don't know how much smaller it is.
whats the standard size fuel tank for ek4s in litres? 40L? 45L? 50L?
I believe it is 45L.
but yeah, 350-370km's does seem a bit less. How did you calculate that?
ek4 sam as ek1 45lt as far ads i know only the ek9 has a 50lt tank so they say
my tank is 45 but good luck fitting that in there. 43 is what it take to go from e to being able to see it full.
hey sup krizy, its johnson.
well, everytime i pour full tank i would reset my odometer thingy. and it ends up around 350-370. also another problem, everytime i vtec my car or gun it, by fuel meter goes up or down. is that normal. it ends up back to the same position i fink after a short period of time. sometimes i dun noe when to fill petrol because of this.
i get about 370KMs aswell, from a say, 45L pour..
though i have a h22z .... rofl, if u have a civic and ur getting 370Kms from 40L, something wrong there...
i don't think most of you guys have a clue what your talking about and just throwing numbers out. Here's how you should be checking.
1) fill up car to full, reset the milage tacho
2) drive car normally until empty or close to empty, however you drive
3) fill up to full and check the actual ltrs exactly & check the milage reading. (usually you reset it again so you can keep monitoring)
4) apply the following formula
Total KM/100= X
Total Fuel/X= Y (this will give you the total ltres per 100km)
If you don't do the above, don't even bother posting your kms cos it will be virtually useless, and a waste of the thread.
You should repeat the process as you will get different readings depending on driving style, fuel etc...... Its a good way of keeping an eye on your car for any problems.
P.S anything like 8ltr per 100km is pretty good, anything below is excellent.
Anything great than 10ltr per 100km isn't so crash hot if your driving normally & most likely should be serviced and looked at.
just my 5c
limbos right
thats what i do everytime i fill up.
i usually get around 430kms on 33L which is around and avg of 7.7L/100km. thats on normal unleaded.
on premium/bp ultimate i get around 7L/100km. (470kms on 33L)
this is also mostly peak hour driving in stop go traffic & also running fatter tyres (205 instead of recommended stock size of 175)
just installed new exhaust.. well see how that affects it my consumption
oh k.. ill try that 2morrow when i fill up.
thanks for the tip limbo.
last time i checked, most fuel tanks use a buoy type measuring system.
when you accelerate, weight shifts to the rear of the vehicle, and hence the fuel shifts to the rear. when you travel at constant speed, fuel sits level.
so when you accelerate hard, weight shifts to the rear, the top line of the fuel is hence on an angle instead of being level, causing the buoy to drop down a little (30L of fuel sitting on an exponential like curve would probably have the meter reading something like 20-25L instead, depending on the acceleration of your car).
then when you cruise at a constant speed, all directional forces essentially balance out and the fuel sits level again, so your fuel meter reads the fuel level correctly
even if im wrong about the buoy type system, the physics match. and although my explanation may suck, those who have watched initial d should get the gist of it by watching the way the water in a cup behaves.
filled up tonight.. had 575 on the clock and filled back to 37L. so that's 6.43L/100kms. my car goes through stop-and-go traffic from home to work. mostly school zone areas. and a 3km round trip from work to shopping centre every lunch time.
car has I/H/E setup by the way.
My EK civic has a 45L tank. I'm kinda obsessed with fuel effiency too! So far I usually get about 8L per 100k in town (I know, not good but hey, I like taking off quickly!) so about 550k. BUT once I'm on the highway, sitting on about 110kph, I've often got 5.6L per 100k. I've regularly managed this, a few trips from Brisbane to Melbourne and Brisbane to Cairns have proved it. So around 800k per 45L tank! From a ten year old Automatic! Although changing from stock to a pod filter and new extractors dropped by about 1L per 100k.
does anyone else's trip meter measure in every 100m's? when i was reading and seeing you guys go only in the hundred k's and looking back at mine in the thousands got me perplexed at why mine measures in hundred metre intervals. 6.66/100kms btw after making the switch to premium unleaded
did 370km from a full tank, mostly drivin with air con on...Is that normal? btw i got a massive hole on my b-pipe:(
how much does your car weigh? Are your tyres same as OEM (standard to engine) circumference ? Turned or standard ECU ?
I will take into consideration , that my speedo could be 3.3% off (due to tiny bit smaller circumference tyres) but 3.3% of 700 is around 22ks give or take.
if my car could do 6.3L/100kms in traffic, then it is achievable to get what Ben's EG did in highway.
I got ek4 full stock 100% with stock wheels on 195/55. Ive trying using all different types of Premium like vortex, ultimate, vpower all brings out nearly same outcome from 350-400 tank. Is that any good?
^
I've got a 98 EK4 w/ 15" wheels, CAI, tanabe 4-2-1 headers, fujitsubo exhaust on Shell V Power
Urban driving with VTEC here and there
Filled Up today: 410km on 33L
Result in litres per 100 kilometers: 8.0L/100km
I usually refill at around 450kms
no idea what i'm doing wrong, can't get below 9.5L/100km :p
there are some nice figures here. i usually get about 500km to 40L (give or take, i never pay that much attention when i fill up. its an ek), and i'm not a hoon, but i'm not conservative with the accel, so that'll prob send my L/100k up a little. and i never do highway driving either.
Fill up today with 450km on the clock, and the gauge just touch the E,it shall be 30-40 km more when the light come up!99EK hatch.
around town ? not bad.
I get at the very least 500 out of my EG Vti, including a spirited 100km or so hills run. Usually get 550-600 while not driving very efficiently.
