My 98 Civic CXI EK1

Hey Guys :) last updated 25/3/2012
This is progress of my car hope you like :)
Picked it up for 6gz back in May 2011 with 5months rego all 3 keys and full long book bone stock,had already electric windows only problem was it the idle would fluctuate but knew what the problem was already and fixed it when i got home :) and gave it a full service belts and all.

Engine: 1.6 D16Y4

Went to pick n payless and strip off the front sway bar from a GLI and the links and arms :)

Ordered and installed the Type R front Grill,front lip,Gear knob also have the back lip but havent put it on yet

Ordered ebay headers and cat converter for 154 bucks delivered to my door :D then went down liverpool exhaust and got a 2inch high flow system cat back exhaust :)

thanks i got my lips of ebay because there cheaper to buy i got both front and rear lip for $145 delivered to my door xD and i havent painted them you can if you really waant to but i just left it for now :)

headers and cat http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/320704148...84.m1497.l2649 two problems i must warn you with the headers and cat first when i installed it they were pushed the stock exhaust a few inches back which was a pain to put in but i ended up cutting and welding a section just to get by before i got my cat back done the next day because it pushed the rest of the exhaust that far back it was rubbing on the fuel tank :s second problem is it does sit low and had to cut and weld a flex pipe to give it some movement and bend it up so the rest of the exhaust can sit nice and tucked away this is what i mean :)

hey man is the rear one on? i cant tell.

no worries glad to help :)

with a naturally aspirated engine its hard to feel the power but i think i freed up some extra HP and torque :) did it to make it breath better and all i really want was a little more sound and now i recon it sounds pretty sweet with the system i got :) not to loud not to quiet
but my civic doesnt sound like a civic if you have heard it haha

the front lip pretty easy 4 self taping screws and the rear i havent had time to put it on but heard its a little harder havent tried yet lol

thanks :) well when i got the other cluster thats i bought from the wreckers i took the whole middle piece out and swapped it with mine and its basically plug and play from there :)

Should change it out for a hi-flow catalytic converter. Illegal to run your car without a cat and can face massive fines if caught.

Also with the d series headers they come with 2 o2 sensor locations, the one you have used only meters 1 or 2 cylinders where as the rear one measures all 4. You can extend the existing 02 sensor to reach the rear o2 bung by cutting the wire inhalf and adding a new section of wire like ive done here, that way your actually getting a reading from all cylinders.

Yeh if you run the o2 sensor in the rear bung you get a reading from all 4 cylinders rather than just the 1 or 2 your reading now, the stock o2 is quite short so you will probably need to cut and solder some extra wire to make it reach. Better to be reading all cylinders imo.

the cat back was $380 for a 2inch high flow system
thats made out of the normal exhaust piping i didnt want anything fancy lol yeah they made it to suit my car on the spot and welded it and fitted it :)

So you swapped the actual speedo/odo unit into the other cluster? i.e. you didn't swap the whole cluster? I am looking at doing this when I put my new engine in, just checking that it is indeed possible..

yes thats true :) once you get all the plastic off its like 2 screws on the speedo/odo if i remember and it should come straight out :)

i got it off a member on here who was selling it complete ,took me a good 2months looking for one and the handling difference is big lol well i reckon so compare to just having a front sway bar now with the front and rear it corners pretty flat for stock bars,but a lot better then just having the front and perfect for street use :)

pretty much was plug and play with the fog lights i just had to get different screws that held the plates onto the front bumper cause the screws werent long enough but that was the only little thing i came across everything else was fine :) sure

i got my wing off ebay lol for 250 brand new delivered to my door :) they are hard to find with the middle light but i waited then one came up and i got it :) only problem i found with it was 2 of the i think it was the inner holes didnt line up with the old holes on the boot so had to do some DIY and some DIY wiring then it was all sweet :)

To be honest i would like too but its really not worth it at the end of the day its still going to be a EK1,i rather get a civic VTIR before i would starting doing more engine work haha :)
