    main relay or fuel pump??

i have had a few problems getting my car started lately and have been eliminating things as i go so far i have recon'd my dizzy, replaced fuel filter, checked battery, cleaned throttle body and check all fuses.

when i was replacing the filter i cranked the engine with no filter on and no fuel pumped out.

mechanic told me that it could be my main relay but im getting some discrepancies he said that if i hear the clicking when turn ignition on to accesory then main relay is fine and shouldnt be the fuel pump but i cannot hear the fuel pump prime.

    can anyone help me out.

bridge the yellow/green(pin 7 fuel pump) wire to the black/yellow(pin 5 ign) wire on the main relay with the ign on & see if fuel pumps out then

edit: also assuming ure talkin bout the EG4?

I mean get a bit of wire & touch one end on pin 5 & the other on pin 7 with the main relay still connected & the ignition turned on.

this is what the relay does internally, but fails to do when u cant hear the pump prime.

In your other Thread you can smell fuel when you crank the engine.

Are you sure there isnt a fuel leak somewhere?
Check the fuel tank area, the fuel pump, and fuel lines under the car and in the engine bay.

Follow ECUMAN's Relay DIY, maybe the Relay has dry joints and you just need to resolder it.

Get in the car, turn put the key in, and turn it to the "on" position(not "start").

If all is working well, the check engine light will come on for a second or two, then go out, and you'll hear a click from the main relay. If these both happen, your main relay is most likely working fine and the problem lies elsewhere.

ok so all wiring to main relay is fine and it itself is fine.

im going to replace the fuel pump and was just wondering will a pump from a dc2 integra fit in and work fine?

you will find the dc2's pump sock filter sits the other way round and when you get to 1/4 tank fuel it runs out.

you might be able to ghetto something but keep an eye for it.
