i on my d16 dohc i have 2.25" catback with 15" hotdog mid pipe 9" hotdog but before the axel and a 8x4x14 oval muffler on the rear and i love its sound and less than 400. deep and tough. gain throughout the rev range, maybe slight loss down below 2k, which i never use, the gain i got up top was unreal 5k-7k+ huge boost. sohc i'd keep it 2" but all straight flowing. the rear oval muffler offset centre is a winner imo. so aim for a 14-17" hotdog mid pipe and a oval 8x4x14" straight through or even chambered rear muffler. chambered rear mufflers give a deeper note too, but can sound too deep almost farty.
Is this the end of my car modding days? Buying a house says so...

Thats what I had done for my EK. Gives a LITTLE bit of extra power (but not much) and really improves the sound. Add a K&N air filter to your setup later for a really sweet sound.

I say if you want a cannon type look, go the xforce twin loop. If you just want the sound, go the catback.
...... and that's all I have to say about that.
