is my car a write off?

Hi All,

i own a 2006 accord euro and sadly i just got home from a "minor accident", i rear ended the car infront of me that has a 'H' shaped bull-bar and it pushed a part of the car's chassis into the radiator. after a few hours of cooling the engine and driving a short distances i managed to get it back home.
the coolant reservoir is not leaking however the radiator has lost power.

do you think it is worth going through insurance as the other car was unscratched and mine looks like a new radiator and a new bumper? (my excess is $2000).

i am just worried about that 'crossbar chassis' looking part infront of the radiator

Well if you didn't cause any damage to the other party you should shop around at a few panel beaters first.

You will need to replace radiator, front bumper (paint & fitted), grill?, crush panel and possibly front reo/rad support (unlikely if it's small damage).

All up I would imagine that it's less than $2k (cash job). Even if it's around the same price or slightly more it may still be worthwhile as your premium & rating wont be affected. Only down side to getting it fixed yourself is that you lose the insurers lifetime warranty.
