I took the Standard because of two reasons lol... I didn't see the need to have the extra 4000 for all the extras and it's lighter!

I've got an 06 lux and the suspension is def softer than say an 04 std. This was the main reason i changed my shocks and springs.

I have a 05 Euro lux manual and it is just the way I want it. For the extra I got the little luxuries us more mature blokes enjoy. Being a manual I am not dragging around all that extra weight of an automatic. I am continually reminded how bad city traffic must be these days with all you guys buying automatics. I think it cost me $5,000 more for the lux. If the suspension was harsher I probably would not have bought it as our roads around here are best described as undulating. So you see in the end it is just up to each individual and his situation. A major thing that put me off the standard Euro was the insipid upholstery which would have suited the waiting room of a Turkish bordello, not that I have been in one . Well, that last comment should get a few replies

yfin, I think only the lux get revised suspension. Here is a quote from an article

.....
The far more popular Japanese-built Accord Euro gets smaller cuts but some welcome specification improvements the entry model drops $750, starting at $33,500 and benefits from a full-size spare wheel. The flagship Euro Luxury drops $300, now from $40,500, and gains 17-inch alloy wheels, a full-size spare and a revised suspension.

Adagio, are you sure you only paid $5000 extra for the lux?
If that's the case then the lux is a good value too IMO. $7000 extra is

I bought the lux -- and personally, I still think it stacks up as excellent value. More features and power and at least $10K cheaper than an A4 or 3 series.

1. I like the leather

2. I use the sunroof all the time (others may not)

3. I like the HIDs (find another car at this price point with HIDs -- plenty with halogens, I can't think of any others with xenons at $40K or less)

4. The electric seats have far more adjustment than the standard model; you get height adjustment and front and rear tilt on the seat base -- might seem a small thing, but it means a lot to my getting comfortable -- and my wife is a small woman, so having all the extra adjustment is good)

5. I wanted 17s anyway

6. The electrochromatic rearview mirror -- sounds wanky, but once you've had one, it's just fantastic. No glare or dazzle from cars behind you and you can still see eveything completely clearly.

7. Curtain airbags. I never used to worry about airbags. When a BA Falcon hit my Euro (when it was just 4 weeks old!) the curtain airbags saved me from smacking my head big time. Now, I will always get a car with as many airbags as possible -- because sometimes things happen that are just completely beyond your control.

The Sport was released after I had bought my lux. I still would have paid the extra $3K just for the HIDs and the curtain airbags.

Well, I love all the extras in the lux model. But, the price difference turns me down
Not to mention "drifting to the right" problem that was experienced by some people in this forum.
I can afford the lux, but I just don't feel the extras worth more than $5000.
If only the brand new lux (manual) were available for $37K (or less) drive away, I have no doubt to get the lux.
BTW, did you get "drifting to the right" problem? Is it resolved already?

Correct me if I'm wrong. I just had a look at the total price I paid $43,300 rego, insurance drive away. I remember the sale Mgr. saying the lux was $5,000 more so that is where that figure lodged in my brain. The other thing that swayed me to the Lux was re-sale value, you always get more for the top model out of proportion to the pro-rata. I also remember him saying I was the only manual premium white Honda Accord Euro sold here abouts, curious as there are many Euros around the Southern Highlands.

While it's been a big discussion topic, I don't believe this is something that can be classed as a "problem". The Euro has very direct steering and it tends to tramline somewhat; this will be made worse when you put on big wheels with very low profile tyres or run very high tyre pressures.

The way the Euro steers is just one of the characteristics of the car -- and it does take a little getting used to.

The standard model is extremely good value. I still think the lux is too when compared to other $40K sedans -- it just depends what you place greater value on. (For example, what one person values in a car and buys a Lexus IS250 is completely different to the person who buys a Commodore SS-V for the same money)

think about the value of the extras too.

leather on most cars like 2-3K
HIDs will set u back $1500 or thereabouts
sunroof extra $1500 - $2000

then add bigger wheels, airbags etc. its pretty good value.

by comparioson, an e46 325i with the same specs (325 coz of power output) is well over $70K when new.

The base manual is about $33990 RRP, which means you can get it for $34000-35000 drive away. So your Lux was $8300-8700 more than the base.
