Exclamation Euro 40,000km Service NZ Vs Sydney Australia Prices

I think Sydney dealers have some explaining to do.

When I return from NZ my 04 Euro is due for 40K service and from the other threads if seen , I see its pretty expensive and prices range quite a bit. I know its the cars 1st major service. And as per my service booklet states the following needs to be done:

    Inspect *
Steering gearbox, tie rod ends and boots
    Suspension components
    Drive shaft boots
All fluid levels and condition of fluids
Brake hoses and lines (including ABS)
    Exhaust system
    Fuel tank, lines and connections
    Tyre condition
    Front and rear brakes
Headlight, taillight, indicator, reverse light and brakelight operation
    Rotate tyres
    Valve clearance
    Accessory drive belt
    Parking brakes
    Headlight alignment
Test drive (check all systems and controls)
    * Inspect, and if necessary adjust
    * and clean.
    Engine oil
    Engine oil filter
    Air cleaner element

So did some of my own research and found this.....

I rang 4 random Sydney Dealers & poped into a local dealer here in the North Iland of NZ just to compare prices. All asking them to carry out the above.

Not naming any dealers these are the following prices I was quoted in Sydney .

    Dealer a. $650.00

    Dealer b. $490.00

    Dealer c. $580.00

    Dealer d. 700.00

NZ Dealer you would tend to think would be expensive ?

    NOT!

$405 NZD! now this is NZD and our dollar usually is around 10-15% stronger. then theres.

    I just dont get it

I just had my 40K service. The dealer that i usually go quoted me $630 and most of the other dealers quoted me $425-$450. Then i went to a dealer that recommended me, at first they quoted me $425 but i ended up paying $346 because i brought my own oil (-$30) and i have CAI so they didn't change the air filter (-$49).

LOL, they are not the cheapest but their quality is good. Their minor 10,000 and 20,000 service costs about $240. Pay $200 if you bring your own oil.

I just checked the invoice for my 40k service last year. It was $277.50 from Prestige Melville Honda in Perth. Price did not include oil as I bring my own and did not include air element as I use an ITG washable.

Yfin got a long way to drive if I want it at that price

Still overall I am pretty sure Sydney is the most expensive to service a Euro @ 40K in all of Australia

Tranny fluid change is probably close to an extra $100.

Because his last change was a year ago.

So how often should you change the Tranny Oil in a Euro ? I thought only every 60,000Km if you drive hard or 100,000km normal use.
