Tapping sound from car roof
I m getting this weird tapping sound coming from the roof of my Euro whenever the car has been under the hot sun for a few hours. Does anyone have this problem?
It doesnt matter if the car was moving, stationary or even started at all... you get the sound *tap*... (2-3 seconds) *tap*...
*ps: I'm pretty sure no animals or human were on the roof when it happened

It's just the metal expanding/contracting. As a material heats up it expends and when it cools it contracts. Go back to grade 8 science, gas, liquid, solid.
Jazz: stock, K&N panel filter.
120 Series Prado GXL Petrol: Pacemaker extractors, Dual 2 1/4" exhaust, 70 series MT STZ's, ARB non-winch bullbar, snorkel, Dimpled and slotted rotors.

i get that too
sounds like the glue is melting off the carpet or something

Have you tried pushing your roof liner up? Mine makes a sound if I don't push the roof liner at the front up at the start of the day. There is a TSB for the TSX for loose roof liner clips.

Haven't tried that. Which part did you have to push? I couldn't pinpoint the exact source of the sound.. just that its coming from the top. and TSB???

Yes.. I think we're getting the same thing. Is this big enough to be a warranty issue? I hope not until the roof line sags all the way down

Mine doesn't have a sunroof, and it's just behind the sunshade, where there is a sharp crease in the liner shape.
There is another source for a tapping sound, but that one happens only when the car is moving, turning, going over bumps or up/down a ramp.

When I press mine, it makes a plastic creak sound, like the clips were coming loose overnight. But after pressing it once, it's fine for the day.

Could be, but for me, when I park underground, it still makes the same sound. If I don't press it up in the morning, I get a roof rattle when I drive on rough roads. Hahaha.
