let me correct myself, they dont sound crap. they just love to rip off the consumer. most car audio gear is moving for the mass production in china. loosing its roots of hand made spl and sq gear i mean i know id rather pay twice as much for sumthing that sounds twice as good and is hand made

u sure the focal amps are produced in korea? pretty sure the 2.250 isnt.otherwise it wouldnt have the $3000 price tag. even so the cost of their equipment is considerably higher . I have heard however they are designed on the u-dimension amps from japan, but those amps are awseume. have had 2 of em in my 1st car. i wasnt saying alpine sounds crap, im saying that they are mass produced, and that for store price the alternative companies (generally made elsewhere) tend to rate better. in the old days alpine's quality ruled hands down tho. i am just talking as to how i feel. i have mates with full alpine set-ups worth a fortune, and they didnt even come close to my old sq lancer with 165k2p's in front and rear running of a 4 channel u-dimension amp and a 33kx running of a u-dimension 1x1000. admittingly i had a 9815 running as a source. i do like there headunits, just not soo much their speakers and amps

Amazing stuff, apparently this brand comes standard in brand new subaru liberties.
MTX THS602 are like $200 splits. [They are alright for price]
MTX TX6001 are more like $300 [Too tiny]
MTX THC6sumthin are like $600 [suppose to be good and crossovers similar to Boston Acoustics]
Good stuff but not great. There not SQ focus', They are SPL focus'.

Custom Car own MTX, JL, KICKER, XTANT and ACOUSTIC.
[SAME COMPANY PEOPLE]
Each have pro's and con's.
Each have different market focus.
MTX are designed to be bad ass loud. Look at there range. Also check out there 22inch Jack hammer sub. King of subs.
Subaru Liberty far as I know have a McIntosh (I think, maybe something similar name) Sound System.

hertz mille ftw they are like the focal one but they take a lot more power with a power rating or 150-170wrms continous but downfall u need a god damn huge amp to power these splits

overall alpine is priced resonably competitively compared with similar products but i dont remember this being a thread about alpine's profit margins anyway...
that might be so but alpine stuff doesnt side all that good if you compare alpine type x subs to those of jl audio w6 say, the jl audio rules with a deeper thump and they dont require as much power but are louder than the type x in general the jl have a better sound
type r or type x splits dont sound anywhere near as good as hertz splits which have an extremely high power rating and can thrashed like anything while alpine splits cant handle the power and start to distort
but one thing i got to admit alpine amps are decently powered for their price, except they are all d-class amps
thus for the elite sound quality enthusiast they do not sound as good as a and b class amps,
the pdx1.1000 are wiked monoblocked amps to power subs and do not require much space depends on a buid ur looking for but hey that my opinion

try to hear this one....
its better than dynaudio n mb quartz
norwegian made
i have em on my dc2, the refference series, they are awesome.
one thing that most people forget, instalation is also crucial for total sound quality output, eg staging, enclosure of the speakers, dynamat etc. There is no point having $$$$ speakers if you dont install them correctly...
Sometime cheaper speaker with profesional instalation, sounds better than more expensive speaker with poor instalation.

JL Audio ZR's over Boston Pro's any given day!
Absolutely amazing amounts of mid-bass from the JL's, the tweeters are suprisingly smooth for metal tweeter, it can get a little bright when turned up loud but they're no where near as bright as the Boston's Pro's.

you should hear the rainbow titanium domes, smoother than any metal dome ive heard. boston have a slight nasally (music dependant), havent heard JL in over 10 years so cant comment on the new stuff, old JL was brilliant.
